of course, If I knew and trusted someone there, I would. I've given to organizations where I know the people. I have no contacts in Turkey or Syria. Only option is red cross or other large well known organization, else governments will send aide and just tax/inflate us.

not sure what else we can do being so far away on mainland USA. I think this is a case where you have to build good relationships with neighbors.

I do think the US government should help immensely using military resources, they have such on the ground... heli copters, soldiers. They can bring aide quickly. We are important allies, Turkey and their people are important and good friends.

Honestly? No. I'm on GaG for interactions with others. Not for donation requests. And I guarantee that if I put up a link for donations for the homeless in New York City I'd have my account frozen. It's only because this is Turkey that this is allowed to stay up.

I'm going to come across as a miser but whatever. Have you heard there's a Cost of Living Crisis in the UK? (Nothing to do with BREXIT, honest!) I'm technically living in fuel poverty. Displaced Turks should me sending ME donations.

Most post disaster "donations" groups are scams. If you do donation, you need tl be EXTREMELY careful who or what you send money to.
