The more real and transparent and authentic you are, the less people want to fuck with you, because theyre so used to fakeness, that being REAL become offensive.

Yes, we have manners and self-restraint, because man stripped of these things is a savage. He is a beast.
Rousseau called such a man the "noble savage." The savagery we can see, the nobility is more problematic.
The culture is in a populist age where "authenticity" is valued above all else. At least until such authenticity reaches the point where the authentic person says, in effect, "I'll authentically rob that store because I feel that my needs matter more than the rule of law."
We've been here before. See also the 1960s and 70s when the motto was "Do your own thing." Then we did.
Turns out that "doing your own thing" conduces to race riots, cities burned to the ground, assassinations, campus protests, soaring crime rates, war without end. Until one day the society wakes up amid the rubble totally exhausted.
So history, because people "forget nothing and learn nothing," repeats itself. So here we are again.
Sorry, it is infinitely better that men restrain themselves and accept a degree of "inauthenticity" in order to conduce to civility and good manners. This because, beneath the surface, the authentic man is "red in tooth and claw."
