This is why I get angry when people call me a conservative. I am a classical liberal and conservatives are still an enemy. I am using conservatives to combat wokism but that is as far as my alliance with them goes.

How can I possibly count myself among the conservatives when they want to fuck the disabled poor and let the rich get away with fucking murder?

That already is law, it was just suspended during Covid. I don't get how it's fucking people over either, the requirement is to look for work reasonably, like most states set up work, or have philanthropists who set up jobs that are just there to give a sense of accomplishment.
We have LaWorks here. The requirement is to work something like 3 months out of the year, part of it is Louisiana rehabilitative program. If you can't work at a place that provides disability accomodations, they'll try to give you training or set you up with one of the state jobs like pulling a lever to press cans.
It is not unrealistic at all to expect people to put out some effort to get off welfare, even if the benefits obtained are not much better than welfare. It's how welfare programs can continue to exist, people working to pay taxes.
If I just went boo fucking hoo, I have epilepsy, and consumed thousands of dollars a month, then on top expected a hand out rather than working to pay insurance and pay into those systems that helped me, that would be the fucked up expectation.

Honestly don't have a problem with the system as it is today. These people don't usually have that much. And out of the people I've personally met, some of the ones milking the system seem less useful to me than the ones with legitimate injuries.

If only people realized how much potential this countries economy has. We could still have Elon musk-es and mark Cuban-es and still have most people making the equivalent of 90k/year. If people realized how much they were getting robbed and decided to do something about it. Then maybe they would deserve to complain about disability. Programs like your describing are a needed necessary safety net for a civilized society, but they need to be cleaned up, de-loopholed, and streamlined. Far too many people take advantage of them with little or no consequences. No one should ever force someone to work when they genuinely can't, and no one should be using (stealing) benefits from a program that's not meant for them. Not too different like when people file false abuse accusations against others, because it takes time, money, and personnel away from those who genuinely need help as actual victims of abuse.

Well nobody is living the high life off of these benefits. On SSI you can't have more than
$2,000 saved up (legally) and that was a standard made during the Reagan administration.

Food stamps give like $34 a month..

I think disabled people should have the option of working in a manageable way, if they feel up to it. It can be nice to feel like you are of use to others.

The government regularly denies critical prosthetics and whatnot to veterans because they don't view them as "necessary care." And have you ever tried to really look into what a "household" means and how intentionally deceptive that is?

In some situations, yes. I had a girlfriend who would work at Walmart but sometimes she would pass out because of her various mental issues, she had severe trauma as a child.

Could she work without dying? Or even getting fired? Yes. Should she? Absolutely fucking not.

I picked her up enough times when she was coming out of a daze from her flashbacks that I don't think it's appropriate for people suffering like that to work.
