My son (along with the other students) was given a "health form" to fill out in class last fall, separate from all the forms sent home for the parents to fill out.

He said the questions on the form asked what gender the student identifies with/as, what name the student wants to go by, and what the individual's preferred pronouns are.

In addition to the above was, "Is it ok for the teachers to use your preferred pronouns and name when speaking with your parents or is this confidential?"

I'm happy to say that my son was just as outraged as I was. He wrote his name at the top of the paper and put an X through the rest of the nonsense.

If I were in that teacher's class, and they gave me one of those forms to fill out, that would make me think the teacher is a weirdo and they would creep me out for the rest of the semester. Seriously! I would want to change schools over that. I wouldn't feel safe around the staff or administration ever again.
By the way, I didn't watch the attachments because that stuff makes me sick and so mad as a hornet!
Good for your son! More people should push back and not even accept the form to begin with.

If a student feels they can tell their teacher something that they can't tell their parents, something is already wrong. Telling students they can't tell their parents is a big problem but allowing students to not tell parents is different

It really depends what it is. Sometimes it's got the good of the student. My headteacher in school used to let me do punishment exercises on my lunch break instead of taking them home, because she knew it my dad found out he would go crazy at me. That's withholding information from a parent and obviously I didn't tell my parents. Was that so bad?
