Do you have any political documentary recommendations?

I’m hoping for some contemporary, high-quality political documentaries.
Please no recommendations covering abortion; I’ve seen plenty. Please no true crime; white-collar crime welcome.
I want to find some similar to The Unknown Known, Bowling for Columbine and Citizenfour, off the top of my head.

Preferably documentaries that are not of a particular persuasion wing-wise, unless it is truly relevant. No propaganda. Something that challenges the viewer and illuminates an issue in a before-unseen way.

Hey, my little, little Fluffy, for pure very selfish reasons I would hate you to bite the apple. Then who will be my little smurf? I haven't seen those documentaries or films you mentioned, but here are some things I look for when I'm looking for an entertaining but also quality documentary.

Welll ancient history (particularly the old Greek powers) is often really great if it isn't presented poorly.
For this genre the best documentaries don't have acting, instead they have pictures showing the armour and weapons of the time and animations showing how armies moved across the land.
Hannibal of Carthage had a veryyy interesting story. He fought the Romans for a decade and a half and delayed their rise on the world stage.

One channel that pays attention to details while not being boring is Invicta on youtube (they sadly don't focus on specific people much tho.)

I spent way to much time on writing something for just that genre, sooo I'm gonna say you're good on the other genres lol

I will say tho most documentaries are politically biased ngl, Even/especially historical ones unless you go back far enough that nobody benefits from being biased.

Actually by the way, that documentary only covers in detail Hannibal's war with Rome when Carthage was independent. After Carthage was conquered Hannibal just went from nation to nation fighting the Romans with whoever would join him

There is one about three mile island. Almost a nuclear meltdown occurred in Harrisburg, PA and the media tried hiding it. You should also watch one on Amazon Prime called Lore. It has 2 seasons of it and they are each about 40-50 minutes. And all the documentaries from that series teach a lot of Irish and American history which can turn political. The three mile island one has a couple different documentaries on it including one Netflix made.

Right now there is a documentary on Oswald and Kennedy's assassination. I think it was on Netflix. I had doubts about the assassin being Oswald, and sometimes I still do. But this documentary is interesting.
