I pay so much in taxes I cannot believe it. Where I live the town wants to raise property taxes over 10%. It is not to build a new school or a fire engine but it is to make up for the budget shortfall because of inflation and the fact that the money that the state usually gives back to the cities and towns was spent instead on supporting thousands of illegal aliens. This will be voted on in two weeks. I expect it will not pass.

As of 4-29, our percentage of our budget spent has been 52.09% taxes! Yes, I created a spreadsheet that calculates taxes with the tax rates I enter. Fed, state, property, sales, utility tax (a real killer), toll roads, they are all figured out. Since we just paid our Fed and State income taxes (misnomer, of course since it's from the govt), we are running high. It will smooth out a bit, but we are usually in the high 30's- low 40% range.

No, as soon as I took over the ownership, they treated me like a new customer. They actually doubled my property taxes. I got screwed over. It’s happened twice now over inheritance and I was on the deed anyway they are destroying my life.

They usually hold taxes at a lower level as long as you own your home. But it you buy a new one, or someone buys yours, it goes up to the current level of new homes. At least in California. My house is worth $1 Mil, but I'm only paying at the level of when I bought it, at $300,000 due to Proposition 13.

I came from a $1.2 million childhood home back in the early 2000s I told you about that before in the questions also if you own a house with a family member and the family member passes away even though I’m on the deed as well as 50-50 partners, they are treating me like I’m a new customer a new homeowner. Why would my property taxes double because of that and I never heard of two people having to sign up for homestead exemption at the same time and I’m the younger brother one just did I didn’t. We were never told that, they’re just looking for excuses and loophole to make a lot of money. I’m paying more property tax money here now than people in rich neighborhoods are. I’m probably gonna end up losing my house because it’s too much for one man by himself to come up with and I’ve been sick. Just got out of the hospital last month with a blood clot, and I still have it. The house is paid off. We bought it in cash but yet they want to find a way to stick it to us. It was a good deal before paying taxes on the property now it’s a horrible deal for me. I can’t stand this if I was a president. I would change this law instantly this horrible tax law loop hole this is twice now that I’ve been burned what do they want for me to live in a tent in downtown Miami in tent city now they just took that away too from the people so I guess I’m supposed to sleep on the bus bench
