Not lose in the moment or next several years…but liberal changes keep coming be they freeing slaves, giving women the right to vote, environment, healthcare, gay marriage, marijuana, etc…

Yes and no.

Some progressive ideas die off over time because either they did not take into account various factors, like human nature, or because the time was not ripe yet - civilization was not advanced enough to accommodate that idea. (*)

But, in the long run, most progressive ideas do win out. This is why most scientists are progressive - they see what Nature dictates and what must eventually be so which is usually in line with progressive ideas, so they vote that way. (*)

50 years ago, there was "The Energy Crisis" (which is still going on). So, in the 1970s, there was a lot of R&D on energy - in particular, energy that didn't come from fossil fuels like oil. This all changed when Ronald Reagan became president. Why did things change? It was a threat to the oil industry, the purveyor of fossil fuels and, of course, conservative because they want things to be just as they are regardless of the fact that the US needed to import oil to keep America running.

Here we are in the 2020s and we now have a significant green tech sector... something we would have had probably 20 years earlier had we not had the GOP in office. Why do we have this green tech sector? Because we HAD to have green tech! Forgetting about climate change, the simple fact that "fossil fuels" will eventually run out should have been motivation enough to do research. And that - and national security - were the motivations for those 1970s investments. What the oil industry should have done was invest in diversifying. Instead of just raking in billions, they should have channeled that money into R&D for other energy. After all, if the oil runs out, they have nothing to sell.

Let's see how things have changed...

During the past 50 years, these companies had a chance to invest in their futures and could have been significant green energy providers, but they clung to the status quo and now they are becoming increasingly irrelevant.

Here's an example of forward-thinking...

Saudi Arabia is one of the largest oil producers in the world. They led OPEC and are the main reason why the Energy Crisis started (Google Arab Oil Embargo 1973). Those people are rich because they export a shitload of oil.

But they know that, one day, the oil will run out.

So, what are they doing?

Investing in solar. The Arabian Desert is great place to get free never-ending sun which can be converted into electricity and sent to nations that need it.

And that's how you tell when the progressive idea wins... when business joins in because they know that politicians are full of shit and there will always be culture wars and religious horseshit, but Nature dictates. It can be negotiated with or ignored. And when businesses can no longer ignore what Nature is dictating, they sign-up.

Since most progressive policies are rooted in Nature, they usually win out in the long run.

I think true or false is too narrow of a view to look through. It swings like a pendulum, with some deviations. The green party, Trump, and libertarians are good examples of deviations from the strict conservative or liberal lens.

Liberals win for a while, then push too hard, and conservatives gain ground until they push too hard. I would say that the advantage liberals have in American politics is that the laws and policies they push for are typically at the federal level and get imposed on everyone, while conservative ones are typically dismantling a previous federal policy to be state by state.

What comes to my mind is not Roe vs Wade, but farther back the Brady Bill. Prior to it the NRA wasn't as popular, most gun legislation passed, as well as the expansion of gun control agencies like the ATF. The moment California standard was applied to new weapon sales nationwide NRA membership exploded, people voted for politicians promising to push back, gun imports soared as they could be grandfathered in after the fact. You didn't see any expansion of the ATF (among many federal agencies) until Obama, then they had awesome successes like Fast and Furious, enter Trump.

Likewise George W won during that timeframe and his conservative actions (also authoritarian ones) laid the foundations for many liberal leaders to follow. Unknown unknowns and patriot act come to mind there. Also promising the military a pay raise for his vote and dumping Fallujah on us, pulling out, then dumping it again, his VP shooting a guy in the face, enter Obama.

Conservatives won on the issue of ending slavery in the US. (In congress, all Democrats voted against the bill to ban slavery... All Republicans voted for the bill and set the slaves free.) I suppose it was a good thing that the Republicans were the majority at the time.

After their loss in the the civil war, the democrat party founded the KKK. It was successful for a time, but now it is not doing so good. I count this as a loss.

The democrats have won on some things...

They managed to take control of almost all media in the country, by following the plans and life work of Reich propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels. You can't deny that they own CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, just to name a few. They are on the verge of taking over Fox News as well. They control nearly every major newspaper in the country. They control all of the "big tech" companies : Facebook, Apple, Microsoft, Google. Yeah, they temporarily lost full control of Twitter, but they will manage to get that back soon. The DNC issues a bulletin every day to all of this media. The bulletin has the day's " talking points". The media all says basically the same things, with slightly different wording, and it all left-wing propaganda. This is a method called "positive reinforcement", that Herr Goebbels used to great effect. For example, if CNN ran a story that claimed that Trump was one of the people who stabbed Julius Caesar in the Roman senate, then you saw similar reports on MSNBC and the the other networks, then it would have to be true, right? You might find the example funny, but woke democrats are indoctrinated and brainwashed. A media blitz on this ridiculous story would definitely be believed by these people. At this point, they are mindless drones. Mika Brzezinski, of MSNBC actually said, on air, that it is their job to tell their viewers what to think! The democrat party is actually shaping the reality of their sheep!

Another thing the democrats won at was their total, absolute takeover of the education system. Somehow, nearly every teacher and faculity member in schools, colleges, and universities in the USA are radical woke liberals. You can go to Twitter right now, and search for "LibsOfTiktok" or "Clown World" and you will see actual videos, posted by these so-called teachers, bragging about indoctrinating little kids in kindergarten & elementary schools. The schools are literally covered with pride posters and propaganda all over the walls. Teachers are directing students to say the pledge of allegiance to a pride flag in some classrooms. Check out their videos and see for yourself. The democrats are destroying Gen Z right now!

Liberals “win” because they are all about “expressing yourself” (having no self control), doing whatever feels good (putting your genitals wherever) and blaming other people for your actions and lack of accountability. Communism is conveniently blind to the fact that some people work harder, make sacrifices and use their talents to get ahead.

Conservative (which is a BS term ) is oriented to traditional values. Those values are put in place to preserve a set of standards so that society survives and succeeds and reproduces.

Humans have all kinds of variations and creative ideas. I ask you, we is diversity and inclusion excluding the cannibals of Amazon? They have a right to eat? What a bunch of liberal hypocrits! And what of the tribes that believe people should be thrown into a volcano to calm nature... that could help reduce volcanic ash?

That's the point, there are some set of standards that humans will adhere to, it's just liberals are a bit more broad and considerate of the plight of those whom are not doing well (poor, etc..).

But introduce many different thoughts and ideas and by nature of government, all have to be accepted... it gets watered down, generalized. Religion has largely been thrown out of society whereas it used to be the core of it.

Conservatives may lose in the long run, but they sure know how to hold on tight to their guns, bibles, and big ol' boners. They may be slow to change, but when they do, they do it with a bang, just like when they finally let women vote and suddenly every woman in America was getting wetter than a monsoon in the Amazon.

Nothing gets a conservative hotter than a good old-fashioned gun show or a rousing debate about the merits of trickle-down economics. Sort of. Once the debate becomes less heated it's easy to accept that a marginalized group ought not be marginalized. And as the older generations die, taking their anger with them, all such debates have traditionally become less heated over time. However, we are in a unique time. Conservatives win most of the time. There are things like social norms that need to be followed for our society to function. Start pushing or breaking social moral or ethical norms and most people will resist change. ... as they should.

Over time, the perception of morality and ethics changes. It is then that SOME progressive ideas begin to change social norms. Slavery, women's rights, etc.

Ultimately liberals lose too with liberal policies. Raise the minimum wage and what happened? Thousands of workers replaced by automatic ordering machines, the service industry raising prices and reducing the number of employees.

You could say that. But you could also say that progressives are progressing a little too fast and mistakes are being made.

One could also argue that some of the “progress” has become self destructive to the left, particularly when it comes to reproduction. A disproportionate amount of social issues involve sterilization, preventing pregnancy and terminating pregnancies.
