How do you feel about law enforcement and the criminal justice system?

Ironically enough, I feel that the only people who DO support law enforcement are center-right who never been involved in the court system.

Most others, whether you’re center left, left, right, etc, can typically agree on that’s it’s corrupt as fuck, but can’t agree why.

Me personally? I feel the criminal justice system is more of a system of “might is right” then looking for truth and justice. I don’t think that the judges or police are at the center of corruption, but that District Attorneys (prosecutors) are.

When you have a community sick of crime, then a prosecutor’s goal is as many convictions as he can get. Because civilians equate convictions as less criminals on the street. This creates a “guilty before proven innocent “ mindset. Prosecutors stop giving a fuck whether you’re innocent, only if they can convict you.

Now you must be thinking “Well, if you’re truly innocent, take it to trial and you’ll be found innocent.” Not exactly. Lawyers for defense and prosecution not only present evidence, they manipulate it extremely fucking well. Innocent people are convicted all the time.

So, my personal experience, I was falsely accused of rape. The accusation was that the girl invited me over for sex, that she withdrew consent in the middle of sex, that I pinned her down, she wrestled me off, got on top, started riding, gave me head, and apparently I fingered her against her will, while she showed me how to finger her. She ADMITTED to police that she never said no, that she actively participated, she never showed negative body language, or anything that would indicate displeasure. I was still charged. Because Covid shut the court down, and my bail was 1,000,000$, I did 18 months in prison before trial. When found innocent, was I reimbursed? No. Was she punished? No. Can I sue? No, because of prosecution and police immunity. There wasn’t justice. They use their manpower, resources, weapons, to get their way, but refuse accountability themselves.

The thing that I dislike about our criminal justice system is how fucking political it is.

Sheriffs are elected. Prosecutors are elected or appointed. Judges are elected or appointed, etc.

This leads to an environment that cares more about appealing to voters than it does about justice. "It's an election year? Better show that I'm 'tough on crime!'"

It leads police and prosecutors to push for convictions or coerce innocent people into plea deals to boost their numbers. It leads to corrupt judges granting favors for wealthy donors. There's no real justice when the incentive is to keep yourself in power at all costs.

The whole system is corrupt, from the top down, because it rewards personal selfishness, rather than personal accountability. They generally protected from, or immune to, accountability. Laws are laws, and should be applied to everyone equally, no favors or special treatment.

For the record: I've never been in trouble with the law, not once. This is just my opinion, based on what I've seen & read over the years. All I know is that the current system is broken, as it stands.

There has to be law enforcement, if you want to see what happens without it just look at the mess San Francisco has become. In your case, the penalty for a false rape accusation should be the same as the penalty for rape. You can thank #metoo and the feminist Duluth model they train police on for your predicament, which is why I always assume a woman is lying when she accuses a man of rape unless there is evidence or I know her personally.

Specifically for the institutions as a whole. Individual officers and judges may be upstanding public servants who truly understand their task at hand.

I've seen enough who don't.
