Have you encountered a female bully?

I would like to know more about what kind of bullying you have encountered. Especially if it was done by a female bully who spread rumors and tried to harass you by turning people against you.

I want to use these examples to share them with my team researching bullying. Bullying based on rumors can be classified as 'Relational' or ' Social' bullying. Such form is most commonly used by girls traditionally but it is not limited to them.

Our goal is to keep sharing examples and anecdotes to help build continuing awareness. Unfortunately, a lot of people misunderstand bullying and often over-look some of the less overt examples of it. They then fail to protect themselves or their loved ones until its too late.

Not physical bullying, but I did see them do that to others.

I was targetted by a lot of girls in elementary. I was a tomboy and they were Catholic white girls who only knew church drama as accepable behaviour, lol. I was told to "stay away from my boyfriend" so many times but even the boys didn't know the girls who claimed them, lmao!

As an adult I also encounter female bullies with alarming regularity.

My first female boss bullied and harassed me so much that I ended up needing to take a long term stress leave - fortunately every other woman at the executive level found her behaviour unacceptable (she called me a bitch for doing my job and hers while she left without prepping for her absence), and supported me in taking the company and the insurance for as much as I could.

I also encounter many kinda benign bullies through work - lots of old Boomer women are threatened by us younger women who don't care for workplace pecking orders and are more competent than the old women.

The worst is a woman who has stalled a project so badly we've escalated up to her boss' boss' boss.

All because she doesn't like that our work will make her do her own work.

I haven't run into many physical woman bullies. One did toss water on my dad after he declined to give her his coffee, but she was definitely not right in the head and was on at least two drugs at the time. Plus I got to see my father get some karma so it was low key funny to me. I did have to stop my reflex to punch her... It wouldn't have been an appropriate escalation.

Middle and high school I had periods where girls that had issues with me over the STUPIDEST stuff and would target me. Sometimes they were in my face about it but usually it was cyberbullying and just passive aggressive af behavior. This is while trying to turn others against me. I would get so sick of it. Even now as an adult I've had jobs where a manager would do shit to try to get me to quit 🙄

I honestly can be petty too ngl but there is a limit 😤 they're fucking psychopaths. Maybe this why I prefer being alone over trying to be make new friends🥲

People bully for different reasons. Some do it because they are immature and give in to peer pressure, others do it because they are narcissists.

The former has the potential to learn from their poor behavior by the time the become an adult. The later is highly unlikely to change and sees the abuse as a way of life. They have zero remorse for their actions and will continue to enhance and use their manipulative ways throughout their adult life.

Although men have generally bullied me more from a physical standpoint, quite a few women have proven to be astonishingly skilled at verbally shaming me beyond belief.
