Why are we supporting Ukraine if you look back into history they made some horrendous crimes even worse then Hitler or Stalin?

I mean read about the Ukrainian insurgent army they made more horrendous crimes then hitler or stalin did. And know biden is treating them like a friend. Im definitely voting for Trump or Desantis in the next presidential election. I don't want my taxes supporting a bloody war over a land dispute between 2 countries with a long bloody history. It's quite amusing if you really think there's some sort of moral motivation behind the US and UK pushing so hard to splurge money on Ukraine, or if you think morality has ever been a motivator for the US (or really ant country) going to war. That crap is propaganda to justify and hide real motivations, which are invariably some sort of enrichment that may or may not actually benefit the "winners" broadly as a byproduct, or at best, retaliating against an aggressor.

Ukraine is a profiteering operation for personal interests with zero regard whatsoever for who gets killed, displaced, or impoverished in the process. It has been regarded as the most corrupt country in the world for years for a reason, and it's not only because of Ukraine itself; it's a huge hub for money laundering and influence peddling away from prying eyes.

Because decisions are made by individuals, not countries, and the people behind Ukraine's atrocities (current ones notwithstanding) are all long dead. You don't blame a person's neighbors for their crimes, and you certainly don't blame the descendants of their neighbors.

The Mongols of the Khaganate built the largest empire the world ever saw, before or since (English attempts at revisionism to the contrary), and taken collectively, their wars killed more people than World War 2. Not "a larger percentage of the population", MORE PEOPLE. Do we blame Putin for the Mongol conquests?

The Ukrainians have had a brutal history with Russia, after trying to break free from Russia after WW1 Stalin Starved millions of Ukrainians after crushing the Ukrainian army.

We are supporting Ukraine against Russia to break Russia militarily and economically and to take their place as the regional power in ex soviet states.

Its more than a war over land disputes. Its about a people wanting freedom. Ukraine is changing and we can ensure they become a true democracy. They are fighting for their freedom, they are fighting fiercely. The money is better spent than PPP or Student Loans.

And China is watching for invading Taiwan and in general to challenge and destroy the US. I believe China knew and encouraged Russia to take Ukraine and they would take Taiwan soon after but that didn’t work out.

Given the propaganda they're probably being blasted with says about what the Russians do to captured soldiers, no, they probably wouldn't. Even if they DID, though, "not wanting to be conquered by the Russians" isn't wanting freedom, it's just not wanting to be Russian.

I agree @Jersey2 . I can't think of the last time the US supportered a country like this that were willing to do the fighting themselves. The Ukrainians are fighting hard unlike the Afgan national army, that's not the action of slave soldiers but of patriots.

@asker what is the history. They fought against their oppressors in WW2 like Finland, Poland, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. The US also opposed Russia in thd cold war and now Eastern Europe is free.
