Has anybody heard about Japan Pouring nuclear water into the Ocean?

So someone just told me that 2 days ago Japan started pouring nuclear water into the ocean, and they will continue to do so for 30 years. Apparently they’re doing it because they don’t want to pay money to store it. It’s the water that is used to clean the nuclear weapons and they don’t want to pay to keep it somewhere.

Apparently Japan are doing their best to keep it all hush so it doesn’t reach the news and spread over the world. BBC have already covered it though, and China have even banned all sea-food from Japan.

It will probably reach the whole world within 10 years, so it will affect all of us. The crazy thing is, America approved this…. Japan have said that it is ‘safe levels’. HOW CAN IT BE SAFE? It’s nuclear!
Why would they do that?
It will kill and ruin everything, the ocean is the main source of life…

It's been all over the news in the US... it's well-known that Japan is releasing contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear plants that were damaged in the 2011 tsunami.

The Japanese authorities are saying that most of the radioactive contaminants have been removed in the last 12 years, with the water being held in 30+ tanks at the Fukushima site. However, tritium (heavy water) is one thing that they cannot remove in the water that's being released into the Pacific Ocean. They counter arguments by pointing out that the UK dumps higher levels of contaminated nuclear waste water into the North Sea, and that both are below established safe norms. The problem is that no one knows what the long-term effects will be on ocean life, especially bottom dwellers, since the contaminants are heavier than sea water and will settle to the bottom, and the planned release in Japan is expected to take at least 30 years.

Some scientists, though, are questioning what the Japanese authorities are reporting, believing that there may be other radioactive contaminants in the release, and are asking for independent monitoring of the water and its release.

There is a local nuclear power plant that has recently been decommissioned and they want to do the same thing. Fortunately our local officials have put a stop to it.

I saw it on the news and I couldn't believe it! I thought that the Japanese government was more concerned about health and the environment, but apparently it isn't. 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️
I think it's awful and it will definitely cause more problems to the planet and to our health. The crazy thing is that the Japanese police is arresting those who are protesting against it. How is that possible? 🤯🤯 They have every right to protest, I agree with them!
Overall it's a terrible idea and they're not thinking straight. They're not thinking about nearby countries or the rest of the world. It's insane! 😡😡😡😡

I have read somewhere it's 2-3g tritium because it's difficult to filter out from such amount of water. I think most of short and medium-lived fission products decayed after 12 years and have been filtered out. Compared with kilograms of isotopes which were spilled into seawater while accident happened, make those 3g tritium not really much.

The water has been filtered and decontaminated as far as technologically possibly. Also the Japanese have announced their plans openly and have approval from the IAEA. This is not a problem. Deconstructing the nuclear power plants and safely dispose of the melted-together reactor parts will be a much bigger headache.

Yes I heard this but I think your info is a bit skewed. I heard it was water from the Fukushima plant. And Japan has no nuclear weapons thier reactors are strictly for producing energy. And the AEC. signed off on the fact that the water released was at acceptable levels.
