Should climate czar John Kerry also be flying on electric planes? (The plane above holds 100 passengers.)

If they truly believed this and they truly cared and this wasn't just a power grab and a ploy to get more control over citizens then they'd start a huge tree planting campaign to decrease carbon monoxide.
They don't... it is just a power grab.
"THE WORLD WILL END" unless you give us power to control everything you do... just in the west, INDIA, CHINA, everyone else... just keep doing what you are doing.
It's never going to happen but I would have more respect for them if they did limit themselves in that way.

Electric planes do not have the range necessary for the distance travelled by Air Force One.
In fact, there is something to note about fueled vehicles, electric vehicles, and rockets.
Rockets have stages and when a rocket launches, you will notice that various stages drop off the rocket. This is because, once the fuel in that stage is used up, that stage is then just dead weight, so you get rid of it.
With a fueled aircraft, we don't have stages, but the fuel itself, as it is burned, lessens the weight of the aircraft. In a sense, a fueled vehicle of any time is infinitely staged, in a sense. But, an electric vehicle uses batteries. As a battery is depleted more and more of it is essentially dead weight, but you can't get rid of it... just like you wouldn't get rid of a gas tank in you car. The difference is that the gas tank in a car is an empty container when fuel is not in it, but a battery still has all its mass... what is depleted is stored charge.
This doesn't mean that electric vehicles - be they cars or aircraft - are worse than fueled vehicles, but their nature is fundamentally different. For an aircraft the size of Air Force One (a Boeing 747) and the required range of it, it is just not feasible to fly an electric vehicle... yet... (and recharging would take a very long time - something you don't want when the President visits abroad).
But, the President is right: climate change is the most existential threat to humanity right now.
This is a more interesting question than you realize- "air force one" isn't a plane, it's a designation, given to any plane the President happens to be on. Doing that would require that s/he only fly on electric planes. Or zeppelins, I guess.
The bigger issue is that cutting greenhouse emissions would mean banning solar power, which would end the Democratic party, and cutting CO2 emissions meaningfully would mean declaring war on China, so...
I don't understand your meaning for banning solar power. I realize how ineffective it is, but I've been shopping for a solar generator. I only want it to be able to charge my smartphones, tablets and external batteries. It would suck to have to be in the dark all night and not be able to watch movies.
And we're never going to declare war on China, so the green thing is a joke.
The manufacture of every single solar cell- not panel, CELL- release tiny amounts of sulfur hexafluoride. It's tiny, but SF6 is more than 250,000 times more powerful a greenhouse gas than CO2, and unlike, say, methane, doesn't quickly break up- it's the most dangerous greenhouse gas known to man. With the low efficiency and abysmal recyclability of solar panels, we're DECADES of heavy research away from it being a viable option as the core of our electrical production- or even being less dangerous than fossil fuels.
I posted this same question two years ago. Absolutely it should be and electric 767. Marine two should be as well. So should that big limo he rides around in. Democrats should be made to suffer the consequences of their failed policies.
While we are at it, the White House does not need to be airconditioned either.. Central heating is overrated too.
@Red_Arrow
1. An electric plane with a gas generator would defeat the purpose of having an electric jet.
2. Do you think the plane in the picture has a battery twice the weight of the plane?
3. Trump isn't the one lecturing us on climate change, so keep your derangement syndrome out of this.
President Trump has just said that he is not opposed to electric vehicles. He is opposed to not giving people a choice of what they want to use. . Biden does not need a gas generator on AF-1. He just needs to show the country that this technology is ready for prime time by having a battery powered plane.
There's no such thing as global warming! And, if there was, why are all these climate activists going everywhere on private jets to give speeches to tell us how bad it is, instead of doing zoom calls and such?
EXACTLY!!!
Burning fuel is more green than a electric plane. It takes more fuel to harvest, transport and process the components needed for the battery.
is that iceberg electric? looks wind powered or maybe the bears farts are making it move,
i watched a great youtube on alteranate fuels
thats oki'll transcribe it here
my milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard
and theyre like its better than yours
damn right its better than yours
i could teach you but id have to charge
There are no electric planes.
But the could take the train or any regular plane.
Lol ok yes let him try that one out
Nope, it should be solar powered.
