Statistically why are African Americans more prone to failing high school, getting into drugs / gangs, and committing crimes than others?

Kindly do NOT go on about slavery. EDUCATE yourself.

Slavery has ALWAYS been common in Africa to the point it was ONLY made illegal in some countries in the last 10 years. Meaning until 10 years ago it was PERFECTLY LEGAL to OWN other people in these African countries.

Never mind slavery was abolished in 1865. 158 years ago. The relevance of slavery - what when OTHER cultures were enslaved (Chinese, Native Americans, Irish endentured servants, etc.) - in today's world is pathetic.

It doesn't explain WHY African Americans are more prone to failing high school (and getting onto welfare as soon as possible), getting into drugs / gangs (in pursuit of easy cash), and committing crimes (again looking for easy cash). Nobody makes them do this. Not even discrimination - if "white privlege" existed after all you'd have NOT ONE minority business

It has to do with culture. Blacks are raised in environments where your reputation on the street will earn you more respect then a degree, and blacks care a lot about respect. Also, they may be book dumb, but they aren't street dumb. They realized a long time ago, why go to school or work 40 hours a week only to have most of your income taken by the government, if they can make a shit ton of money dealing dope or selling stolen goods and keep all the money for themselves. One thing black people aren't, is suckers.

Poverty. Race is no where near as correlated to people who make bad life choices as poverty. It's just that poverty is also correlated with race, because of racism. Redlining, gerrymandering, voter suppression, segregation.. and yes slavery, we have a long history in this country of intentionally keeping black people poor. I don't even know for sure that we have stopped but assuming we have it would still take several generations for the averages to merge. This is why affirmative action exists, as tilting hiring practices to slightly bias in favor of black people would speed up the merging of the averages. But of course there are still people who want black people to stay poor, and they fight affirmative action at every opportunity. So, it sill probably be another 100 years of poverty before things even out..

It all comes down to the predominant black culture in the US. If you look at blacks who grew up in Africa and then came to the US, they have none of the problems black Americns have and tend to be very hard working and successful. And they come to America more impoverished than most blacks who grew up and live in the US.

It's all about black American culture, and the only people who can change that are black Americans.

Poverty isn’t the real cause.

IQ is 80% genetic. Most people will mention poverty as the cause, but low IQ people are more likely to live in poverty.

No, IQ doesn't have anything to do with it. Asians and Jewish have higher IQs than whites, so whites basically win the bronze medal for IQ.

Native American have relatively the same IQ as white people, but look at the Native American Reservations a lot of them are filled with crime and poverty.

Look at hill billies in tralior parks stuff like that can happen to any race.

It seems like you’re assuming that I’m a white supremacist claiming that white people have the highest average IQ, but I’ve never made that claim because it’s not true. Jewish and Asian people do have higher average IQs than white people, you’re right about that, and they also tend to be more successful on average, and less violent than white people. IQ has everything to do with it.

White people have an average IQ of 100. Native Americans have an average IQ of 86. That’s nowhere near equivalent.

Yeah, there are intelligent and unintelligent people in all races. There are smart black people, dumb white people, dumb Jewish people, dumb Asian people. Pointing out that there are unintelligent or smart people of any race doesn’t matter because the average is the average.

African Americans who immigrated from Africa tend to be high achievers (Nigerians in particular are either the single top demographic or close to it); those who struggle as you've noted tend to have been here for several generations- consequently, the state of affairs in various parts of Africa doesn't enter into it. Whether their ancestors came willingly or by force, a teenager in Detroit is not affected by the laws of Cameroon.

Poverty.

Poverty is the most common and most important factor in terms of education, crime rate, drug abuse, ... and among the poor people in the USA, African American are one of the biggest groups.

And one factor is slavery and systematic racism.

Culture really, also the fatherless epidemic plaguing the community which resulted in culture.. There's also the bigotry of low expectations that people place upon the "Black Community".. But it's ultimately the culture that the American "Blacks" and probably in a lot of places in the West adopted..

Hispanics too. I work in a dominantly Hispanic high school, and only 20% of our graduates have a high enough GPA to attend a four year university.
