Why are American youth of today such self-centered, disgusting and immoral people? Are the youth in other countries like this? Why are we like this?

I shit you not but I’ve literally been arguing and debating for hours online with several people about this.

Yesterday, the day after the deadliest mass shooting this year in the entire country, and the day after the deadliest mass shooting in the state’s history, and the day after the 10th deadliest mass shooting in US history, a bunch of college students decided to party IN THE STATE WHERE THE MASS SHOOTING OCCURRED.

Instead of taking the night off to reflect on the magnitude of the situation out of respect for the victims and their families, they decided to disregard everything that had happened.

The day after the shooting, people spent all day asking online about “who’s throwing tonight” instead of offering sympathy, support, thoughts and prayers to everyone adversely affected.

The fact of the matter is, we are college students in the state where the shooting occurred. There have even been a few students who have come forward and stated that they had family and friends who died in the shooting itself.

And virtually nobody was offering them sympathy or asking if they were ok.

Some dumb^ss actually argued and said to me that “partying is just our way of grieving differently”

Partying is not a form of grieving. Anyone with common sense knows this. But these are the dumbf^cks I’m having to deal with. Just entirely self centered people and its disgusting.

Partying is choosing to ignore the situation. It is not extending sympathy and support to those affected.

As I said, the mass shooting took place in our state.

And there’s even one guy who went so far as to claim that I just wanted attention and that I didn’t actually care about the victims.

Even though he was the one spending all his time defending his actions while I called him out for being a POS.

Guess what? That mfer blocked me.

Anyway I thought in a time of tragedy it would unite us all together like it did with 9/11, but instead all its done is just shown the worst in people indifferent to human suffering.

Because they’re self centered little monsters who do not care about right and wrong or honorable behavior. They care only about what they want, when they want it, and are willing to trample on anyone to get what they want.


This is the fault of my generation who was the first to think parenting involves being your child’s friend instead of the authority in the home.


Then the kids are sent off to school and pumped full of self esteem psychology where they are told: “You’re special” “you’re important.” So there is never punishment for wrong doings, never rules and regulation in the home, and finally they are told they’re special all the time resulting in now 2 generations full of morally bankrupt, diluted practical narcissists.


Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if China or Russia dropped a bomb on us. Hopefully it wound incinerate millions of these vile creatures who run around saying “me, me, me, mine, me, mine, mine.”

Seems to be sad, but true. Even the Bible says save the rod, spoil the child. If you love your child you will discipline them. If you spank them they will not die. When did we start buying into the world’s parenting mantra that says it’s unloving to punish a child for their behavior? In our politically correct culture, it’s even unacceptable now to offend your own children.

Positive parenting is trending these days, even in Christian circles. We are to never speak a negative word to our kids, or judge their actions for fear that it will cause them irreparable psychological harm. We should only ever recognize and reward the good things they do.

But in Scripture, we see that parents are actually called to protect their children from the ruin of an undisciplined life. Ignoring direct disobedience can make a child vulnerable to an ongoing spirit of rebellion.

I suspect that’s why we have so many millennials today who are self-centered, irresponsible, and entitled.

But this is what we as a nation have been rearing up for the last 30 years. Kids posting funeral selfies for likes, kids with no loyalty to family, people with no manners, kids obsessed with being a victim.

I think the reason why young people are so arrogant, swearing, being egocentric, selfish and rude is because they think they look cool in the eyes of people and/or other bands. Or also because they will have insecurities and/or they want to fit in and be accepted in society and decide to take on that type of behavior, as a kind of cover. In Spain there are also that type of people and I experimented with them and I have heard of other people's cases related to that. If they don't see you as one of them and/or see you as unworthy, they will treat you like shit, insult you, speak badly of you, criticize you negatively, undermine your self-esteem, etc. and they may even force you to become one of them. And maybe even if you become "friends" with them, they are fake, because I remember that one time my mother went to the high school where I studied in my town and she scolded a boy who bullied me and that boy talked to her very rudely to my mother and even to the group that was with him at that time he told them that she was threatening him, and she spoke badly about his physical appearance and the group of his "friends" laughed at him for the insults that my mother threw at him about his physical appearance.

My sister and I were talking about it recently. It seems like people are becoming less empathetic about human suffering if it's not happening to someone they love or care about. Her theory is that in our current 24-hour news cycle people are constantly bombarded with bad news and that at a certain point, people tune out. When people tune out the tragedies they don't experience empathy for the people suffering the tragedy. Then you combine that with selfishness or self-centeredness and you get a bunch of insensitive people.

I don't understand it either, to be honest. I tend to feel empathy too deeply for others. I've had to try and detach myself a little bit just to be able to do my job sometimes. However, I don't detach myself to the point of no longer experiencing human emotions.

Exactly my point. That’s called being self centered. Only caring about what affects you, and not what affects other people.

Also, its just a character problem in our society. People SHOULD be feeling empathy and offering support to people because its something that happened IN OUR STATE.

In my school there are MANY PEOPLE that have been personally affected by this.

But the amount of support they’ve gotten from their peers? Virtually nonexistent.

My point being this isn’t just another news story. This is a situation that has had real life person impacts on a multitude of members within my community. Yet the support for those people within my community who are grieving has been virtually nonexistent

Because parents no longer teach their kids Christian standers. People no longerteach their kids to server the Lord. I upsets me when parents allowed ther kids to live a worldly life. It upsets me when I see catholic parents teaching their kids that its okay to do wrong things theirs purgatory. Catholic churchs need to be shut down no questions ask.

I teach at a local college. Some kids seem to have no moral compass and they make me wonder about who their parent s are. There are others that really make me feel confident that the future is going to be okay.
