I feel the US Army has a culture deep rooted in toxic masculinity. No wonder they keep losing wars not. Back then they fought N@z!$ but now they often consist of them.

I had a friend who once joined the military because her toxic father thought it would "Man her up". She identities as a Woman. However being in the army caused her stress and depression because everyone would Misgender her.

Now bullying by fellow service men is one thing however even authorities like her drill Sargent would Misgender her causing her to cry and even considering suicide on certain instances.

Eventually she was let go because the "Men" in the army thought she was unfit to serve however I feel that she is a perfect candidate for the army if not for all the constant bullying and misgendering.

However I am curious? With stuff like Don't ask Don't Tell gone and members of the LGBTQIA++ community now allowed to service in the military
why are drill Sargent's still allowed to Misgender someone?

Sadly toxic masculinity still hasn't left the military. I hope that one-day they too will be inclusive to trans people and respect their pronouns.

Drill Sergeants can largely say whatever the hell they want at you, and if you can't take it because it hurts your feefees, then you aren't soldier material anyway. Furthermore, the Army will go out of its way to make the discharge process as tedious as possible for a quitter/washout, often longer than it takes to just finish basic. As far as a DS addressing a recruit, you are a 3-digit number to them and nothing more, often not even addressed by your rank let alone 'preferred pronouns' until graduation.

Transgenders should be banned from military service, full stop. Much less significant mental health issues are a permanent bar from enlistment, and it's absolutely ridiculous that it gets an exception, and by extension special treatment solely for political reasons.

I'm sorry I'm a firm believer you are either male or female. She or he. There is no they or them. In the case of your friend. She isn't fit to be there. If you get upset over something like this, they is absolutely no way in hell you would survive in the war. They did the right thing letting her go

She is a strong woman. If she can survive transphobia here there she is strong enough to survive anything else
