Why are we supposed to act like our age, what constitutes how an adult our age should act?

Question

For example, in the village, I have a secret spot on my fence, where I’d get into my yard, the fastest.  I’ve got a bench, I’d jump on that bench, then I’d jump on the fence, then there was a stair, I’d jump on it and I’d get into the yard the fastest and would open the locked door for others as a surprise.  
 
  I hated to wait too long till my parents would unlock the door.  I know it might be childish, but I really enjoyed that and always did that in childhood.  Last time I did it was last year before leaving to China, then I thought  “What will my neighbors think? I am already 25, I can’t crawl on fences at this age. People don’t do that.”  Now I wonder, why should I feel limited to do something just because of my age if it gives me some pleasure?

I don't have to prove anything to anyone. I fought in two wars I'm done proving stuff. I like to play with my rescue kittens. I may spend hours crawling around on the floor, darting my head out from behind furniture or on my back batting at a cord with them. I'm sure somebody thinks that's "not acting my age." I'm also equally sure their opinion has all the weight of a fart in a windstorm.

Stay young at heart. I've learned all too well that nobody knows they're going to have that chance next year, next week, even tomorrow.

Accidents happen. We fall so we can pick ourselves up. We learn.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to have fun. There is no reason to lie about that. Just because misfortune befalls us, doesn’t mean we should stop enjoying life.

In my opinion age is only a number the only thing that change as we grow is our appearance and beliefs. I’ve noticed a lot of my friends in middle school still act the same. I guess we just learn more things through our experiences but we’re still the same people.

One of the benefits of having children I guess is it is ok to play childish games. I think if you like doing something do it.

Curious, in Georgia are there fence stiles? That is a set of steps to climb over a fence. on the farm there was a stile I enjoyed using even though there was a gate a little way up. Seems like you made the bench a stile.

Well that it’s a bit boring and annoying how society builds those adult stereotypes and defines what an adult is, actually there's no age to become an adult, it’s a self-development process and no -no one , even the person themselves can’t tell the other I’m an adult, I have passed through that process cuz not even the person can comprehend what needs to be done and what’s done and what’s left to be done, so there are many adults who are just lost children playing roles and trying to play a drama doing adult things 😮‍💨😮‍💨

In society there are times we need to act our age for the sake of it, such as if we are in legal, nursing, financial or teaching professions because of accountability. Behind closed doors with loved ones they will no doubt be a different story for most people.
Sadly for some of the people I've known in my life, many didn't have a choice to stay young-minded so to speak (like my parents) because the circumstances in their life didn't allow them that. They were too busy working and looking out for the family.

However I don't think we should ever lose our sense of fun in life or sense of humour as we get older. In fact I think we should embrace it! Having a youthful mind is good for our mind and body.

I once knew someone who had fun all his life and didn't rest until he was 93. He was a painter and married three times in his life, the last girl he married being under half his age of nearly 90 when the others had gone away.

I guess there is one important point regarding acting as an adult and it's responsibility. As long as You take responsibility for Your actions... You can do whatever You want. And regarding the matter at hand - it's perfectly fine to keep fit and unconventional, it could probably even be considered parkour (and to be honest, it sounds cool). The point is... If anything happens to You, it's Your responsibility and You should do as much as possible to deal with the consequences Yourself.

i've dealt with this a lot , is things i still like to do that i originally started to do years ago and its tough to know what age is really approiate or not. but some things are more ageless than others , unless its like illegal i wouldn't really worry about doing it

Don't listen to them. I'm still doing many of the same things I did when I was 10 years old. People don't like it, because they want you to be old and feeble, but it's not time for that yet, at least in my case.

For me it's about accountability and being emotionally mature. don't blame others for your own mistakes, learn from your said mistakes, and also learn to temper and control your emotions rather then let them get out of control.
