Very effective. For starters fleets of drones would be flying over the ho chi ming trail 24/7 just lingering there and thanks to night vision, thermal vision, motion sensors etc anything that moves is getting hit stopping the flow of troops and weapons to the south.
It's the same with longbow apache helicopters, they'd be hitting targets with 30mm cannon, he'll fire missiles and rockets very accurately. Put it this way in the war on terror there's accounts of iraqi and afgan insurge to surrendering to Apaches that opened up on them.
Then there's US soldiers and marines and their night vision and thermal optics which would give them an advantage at night along with their body armor. Blackhawks, Ospreys and the new us army aerial transport V-280 are faster and less vulnerable than the old huey & other Vietnam era choppers.



We some of the new stuff like the CROWS turret system which can mount any machine gun in us service, auto cannons, rocket launchers, grenade launchers. It has telescopic sights, motion sensors, night vision, thermal optics and computer assisted aiming. There's nowhere to hide from this system, camouflage doesn't fool it.

In the air war over north Vietnam the us would be able to deploy stealth aircraft to knock out air defences and NVA fighters on the ground without getting shot down by ground based Sam missiles, which after experiences over Vietnam and the Yom kippur war was why the US military developed stealth tech in the first place.

Basically the US military would have more firepower than they did in Vietnam but the crucial part is that they would be better able to target the vietcong and NVA in the jungle with pinpoint accuracy. The difference would be that for instance that US aircraft could drop tons of bombs in Vietnam without hitting a single vietcong or nva target, now they'd hit their target 99% of the time.
