Why is there a stereotype that a fathers love is somehow less than a mothers love?

I would move that a fathers love is just as important as a mothers love. A child needs both. I think that those that say a fathers love is less important are the ones who are fine with children growing up without fathers.. They are the same as the single mothers who fight against 50/50 custody because he "Wants to pay less child support"

they're both equally important. there's a reason why people get daddy or mommy issues growing up and it's all because of the lack of a father/mother figure.

I'm sure the kid will do fine growing up, but there will be some parts in their life that may require one or both parents.
A father's love is not like a mother's love, and a mother's love is not like a father's love. In a way they're different, yet so similar. It's amazing what loving, healthy, and stable parents can do to a child.

They’re equally important. I do understand where you’re coming from though. I have seen the slander regarding the significance of a father’s role. I think it stems from a lot of women having to raise or do most of the work to raise the child (ren) alone. There are good fathers out there that are involved in their children’s lives but it seems to be a bit disproportionate, unfortunately.

I am saying a shitty mother can negatively impact a child's psyche more than a shitty father. However, both can equally do as much damage and it doesn't mean a father's role isn't significant.

It's very damaging for kids. Both boys and girls need fathers in their lives as much as they need mothers.

Some role models that will be used in the future, i. e., to assess possible partners, are formed at an early age by observing both parents and their interactions. Missing parent leaves an emotional void which kids as young adults try somehow to fill. Not having the role model created in their childhood negatively impacts their relationships.

@nastyb They aren't the majority. Family courts are to blame here by the way. its closer to 10% men, 10% women, and 80% family court. Family courts are financially incentivized to destroy families and stick one parent with majority custody. Why? Read Title IV-D of the Social Security Act. Every state receives 50 cents of federal money per every dollar of alimony, Spousal support, and child support collected. Meaning the government has a lot of incentive to break up families, and its almost never in the best interests of the child. Some states have Enacted default 50/50, which statistically is best for children.. But most have not, they stick with 80/20, 80% to mother, 20% to father custody split.

So yes SOME men abandon their children. MOST do not. Spend 5 minutes on TFRM and you will see men who are desperate to be fathers to their children, and either vindictive ex's or the court system keeps good, able and willing fathers away. You can disagree with this, but the stats do not back that.

I would strongly disagree with that, because statistically, single father homes do better than single mother homes. Male, Male Gay homes do better raising children than single mother or lesbian homes.. But none do as well as a mother and father home.

Additionally Single mothers are responsible for 75% of all child death, child abuse, and child neglect. Even when controlled for single fathers, where the percentages are 3%, 3%, and 4%... single mothers are utterly catastrophic to children.

From what I understand, it is because people take a look at the divorce rate and think that it is the men abandoning the family.

The truth is we really don't know that because we have no fault divorce so we will never truly know why the marriage ended. Even when an accusation is made, the courts actively mock our right to due process so who knows how many of those accusations are even real?

Absolutely incorrect. I had a very poor relationship with my mom. I have not seen her since i was 16.. She chose drugs and essentially being a prostitute over being a mother to me. And i am in a happy decade long marriage.
