+1 yIslam does indeed have sects; any group that old, large, and widespread is bound to. They're more monolithic than Christianity or Hinduism, but that's not saying much; it's about equivalent to "less numerous than stars in the sky". The majority of Muslims are Sunni; but then, the majority of Christians are Catholic, and claiming the Protestant, or other Orthodox sects don't matter is NOT going to win you any favors with them (hell, pointing out that Catholics, too, are Orthodox is going to rouse some anger, both from the Greeks and, sometimes, from Catholics).
There are indeed sects of Islam where the women don't cover their heads, at least:

See? but I know of none where women don't cover themselves AT ALL; nudism and Islam don't overlap much.
Incidentally, that woman is Megawati Sukarnoputri, former president of Indonesia, so she's not just some random Muslim woman who disregards rules. Jury's still out on whether 1,210 of her could power a flux capacitor.

There you go, then. I'm not sure which sects are more picky about it, but there are clearly some that don't care, or at least not much.

+1 yStill, %90 of muslims are Sunni which tells women to cover their heads. Long story short, there are branches of Islam that digressed from the original so dramatically that you might think they are completely different beliefs bearing some similarities to Islam.

Asker+1 yWhat if the Sunnis have gone astray?
Asker+1 yIt is said that there are very few real Muslims and it is said that it is written like that in their holy books.

"Sunni Muslims are the vast majority of Muslims in most Muslim communities in Central Asia (including China), Europe (including Russia and the Balkans), South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, the Arab World, Turkey and among Muslims in the United States. Shia Muslims make up approximately 10% of the Muslim population."
still, it is more likely that Sunni sect is more sensible. Shia practices can be a bit too extreme by today's standards

Asker+1 yI don't understand why Sunnis are more logical, they are the continuation of the Umayyads, that is, the continuation of the person who massacred the grandchildren of their prophets.
Asker+1 yUmayyads were a state that tried to turn Islam into Arab culture.
Asker+1 yYou know this is an Arab culture, right? That video has nothing to do with religion, it is an Arab culture.

History of Islam is full of contradictory situations and vague concepts. I am a Turkish guy from Turkey, and we learn about how Islam became a widespread religion among Middle East, so you can trust me on this one🤣🤣🤣
- +1 y
they are not Arabs. they are Afghani Shias
- +1 y
Afghanis are definitely not Arabs
Asker+1 yI'm sorry but you are wrong. My friend is a Turk from Turkey. He is very confident about this. I encourage you to learn more about the cultures in your country.
Asker+1 yThere is Arab culture in Afghanistan

Alevism is literally the integration of old Turkic traditions into Islam. It is highly divergent from Sunni sect.
- +1 y
no, they are influenced by Arabs, but this ritual has nothing to do with Arabs or Arabic traditions. It is purely a Shia custom.
Asker+1 yI hope there will be no sectarian fights in your country.
- +1 y
There used to be, but things have subsided lately, yet this doesn't change the fact that there were killings or attempts to harm alevi minorities took place in the past.
Asker+1 yWell, I'm asking, if it's not an Arab tradition, have you ever seen such a Shiite festival in your country?
- +1 y
no. Shia's differ in terms of religious rituals. Shias in my country are mostly Alevis which is a different sub-branch of Shia.
Asker+1 yOh my God, why did they do such a thing? I was wondering why you were so angry at each other, now I understand why.
- +1 y
*Shias
- +1 y
Alevis don't do this. Alevi branch is heavily Turkic influenced. Old Turkic groups did not have such traditions.
Asker+1 yI guess the people in your country haven't gone astray
Asker+1 yThe reason why I join the Alevis more is their hostility towards Arabs.
- +1 y
I can't be the judge of that. by the way, I don't understand. Do you want to be an Alevi, or you are just on the same page with them because the way they view Arabs and Arab culture as a whole?
Asker+1 yI don't want to change religion or anything, I just support it.
Asker+1 yI hate Arabs, I love those who hate them, that's all there is to it.
- +1 y
why do you hate Arabs?
Asker+1 yObscure, arrogant, ridiculous people stuck in the Middle Ages
Asker+1 yThey are waging a constant war

Sunni and Shia are the most commonly known ones but as with all religions, there are plenty of separate groups that compose them and they differ in their interpretation and adoption of their beliefs. Religion is a very personal thing so dont be too surprised when there are major disagreements between two believers of supposedly the same religion.
10 Reply12.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Every religion has sects. Islam is no different.
Your "friend" is wrong. There are women in every region who do not cover themselves. It's nothing to do with sects - just their own preference.
A Muslim is just a person who believes in One God. Everything else is commentary.

Asker+1 yMy friend is a Muslim. His sect does not interpret the holy book in this way and therefore they are not closed. That's what he said
+1 yIslam doesn't have a sect. It's Muslims who have made sects based on the differences occurring because of political, historical and interpretational issues.

Doesn't have sects*
Asker+1 yIt is said that it happened after the war between Yavuz Sultan Selim and Shah Ismail.
- +1 y
Sultan Salim was an 16th century Ottoman. The divisions were plaguing out since way before. Dm me if you want know to more about it.
Asker+1 yThe reason for the previous sectarian differences may be due to the Umayyads' massacre.
Asker+1 yThere is no need for much detail
- +1 y
Yes but not only that, but also due to the martyrdom of Uthman ibn Affwan (RA), sons of Ali ibn abi Talib (RA), fitnahs like battle of Camels etc. Further subsects also came into being because of cultural influences within the community and their interpretation of the scriptures.
Asker+1 yWhich side do you think is right?
- +1 y
The ones who follow the guidance of Qur'an and Hadiths and don't innovate anything in Islam.
Asker+1 yWhich one is that?
- +1 y
It's best to call just 'Muslims' and stick close to the guidance given. But if you wish to make difference between the Muslims who are deviated and the Muslims who are guided, the guided sect is Salafi which is derived from the word 'Salaf'... meaning the first three pious generations of Muslims. There are Hadith which command us to follow the salaf because the divisions and misguidance within the community was predicted to come way before.
Asker+1 yI think the best thing for Muslims is to interpret their holy books correctly. They should consider not following the hadiths that they are not sure about.
- +1 y
Hadiths are the scriptures of Islam. The Qur'an tells to pray. How to pray? It's in the Hadith. Qur'an stays to stay clean. How to stay clean and what makes you impure? It's elaborated in the hadiths.
Qur'an and Hadiths go hand in hand. As for the unsurity, we have classifications of the hadiths as sahih, Hassan and da'if.
Asker+1 yWell I hope they find the right path.
- +1 y
I hope the same for everyone.

I had hoped so but wanted to be sure.
I was looking at a resume of Persia to Iran and there was a shop of wedding dresses. Apparently thats OK as at Irian weddings the bride side is in a different building without any men present. It is possible to have uncovered parties and they just pay a bribe..
Asker+1 yI feel sorry for the people in Iran, Islam does not force them to do anything. But the state forces them to cover their heads under the name of Islam and restricts their freedom.
+1 yIts true that islam has sects but I dont understand which sect you are referring
