Why do Anglo-Saxons idealize France so much before they visit?

I saw this video of an American woman, which made me very sad, I would have liked to live in Lyon to comfort her.

But France isn't in emily in Paris. And there are many cultural differences. First of all, the French don't naturally approach foreigners, not just foreigners from another country, but even French people themselves, because in France, if you don't know someone, you don't approach them.

There are also other codes, for example, in France when you go into a shop or want to talk to someone you don't know, or even to someone you know but are talking to for the first time, you absolutely have to say "Bonjour" - it's a magic word here lol.

And there's a whole bunch of cultural differences that you Anglo-Saxons just don't know about.

Generally speaking, I wouldn't say that the French are "Rude", I think a lot of these feelings come from these huge cultural differences.

But it's true that the French should make much, much, much more effort in welcoming tourists, and be much, much nicer.

That's why when you visit France, don't expect to be greeted with enthusiasm etc., that's just not the mentality here.
