No one should be defending Ukraine for imprisoning this guy and given the amount of leverage the US government has with Ukraine, the State Department should have secured his release with a promise he'd never return to Ukraine.

I don´t think X is a valid source for claims of torture. General speaking look at the story of Julian Assange or Snowden. Assange will probably die in some US prison as well. Would you say the US is a democracy?

Attacking the government never works well for a person, there´s no country in the world where you can do this over and over again and get away with that. There are rules and limits to freedom in every country especially if the country is at war.
