What has your country done to reduce the gun violence?

In Swede! Since the 2020 covid pandemic the gun violence increased and got out of hands with all the gangs and their under aged members/thugs, shootings and in few cases! Bombs and explosions happened. So there is a lot more of police patrols , some punishments laws were changed to make it more difficult for criminals (even though prisons in Sweden are like 4 stars hotels-ish like) but they are doubling the time for gun assaults, harder punishments basically but i don't have the statistics to back it up.

That is only in few major large cities like Stockholm and Malmö. Not anyone can have weapons here in Sweden, you must read about gun laws, have a test and answer the questions right to get licens. If you want to own a gun (any kind) you must fill in pappers upon pappers on why and how and it must be approved by the government after that. You must have a gun safe that matches the requirements that the government and gun laws asks for.

In 2022 England and Wales combined had 5709 gun offences of which 35 people were killed. I'm not sure of last years figures but probably similar. Most of it is confined to a few small areas. Unless you move in the wrong circled most people will never see a gun.

The thing is in the UK if your are caught committing any crime and have a gun on you the courts will come down hard. Criminals know they might only get a few months prison or a fine but if they've got a gun that turns into several years.

Most guns used in crime are actually hired from other criminals. Bring it back unfired and get half your money back, fire it and you've bought it and you better chuck it in a river.

Illegal firearm market is filled with full auto assault rifles and ammunition from Ukraine. Former government made black powder firearm legally obtainable without obligatory registration. A black powder revolver cal. .45 from 19th century is even more deadly than a 9mm pistol and free obtainable here. You can order such a colt like a pair shoes in internet.
I think situation will worsen, I just wait for first amok run in my country.

In the UK, it is mainly around gangs that anyone bothers with pistols, other than shotguns there have been no real issues with anything bigger than a pistol. I know how it's in England which i think is great. It does not mean there is less crimes. I have seen a lot of knife and machetes videos, i used to work with under age criminals and i still have contact with few co-workers that still working with kids.

Oh defintely not less crime, it’s increasing but it’s knife crime that is the major area. Guns are fine and number of actual deaths from them are really low. Machete attacks are the ‘new’ hospital issue, as they are different wounds to knives.

My country doesn't let the masses have access to guns in the first place. That's a great start but more needs to be done to get the illegal ones off the streets. I have no clue where they should start for that.

Nothing. Instead of putting gangbangers in prison they prefer to pass more stupid gun laws that only the law abiding citizens will obey and will do nothing to stop gun violence.
