Absolutely, if I have to go back to a system of trading what people need i'd probably die from starvation. After all the balance of what people need is not an equal balance. I need food daily, but the farmer doesn't need his computer fixed every day. Infact he probably only has a handful of computers at most and they will be running fine for years. Am I entitled to a year of food because I fix his computer once a year? Probably not. And there will be every other individual trying to compete with me over food.
Meanwhile in a system where there is an established currency I can provide my skills to people who need them, giving me a steady supply of work in something I am an expert in. And the people who frequently need my work are organizations that have a lot of computers, if your managing thousands you will always have a handful of things going wrong every day, so my skills are needed every day.
Guess we'd both better learn how to hunt and cook then
@KostasKouvalis No because we have money and that allows me to trade money for food, and earn money by performing my skill.
YES, but only because we've made it that way. I think we would be perfectly fine with a bartering and favor for a favor stsytem.
Paid labor was a concept invented in ancient Egypt to keep the people busy and tired so they wouldn't revolt.

It seems vital to avoid the inefficiencies of bartering.
That said, I spoke to a historian not long ago who told me that money wasn't invented to streamline barter even though it had that bonus effect.
Instead it might have been used to keep track of debt. It might be difficult to keep track of precisely how indebted a tenant of a property is, for example, in terms of things like goats and loaves of bread.
So that kind of brings to mind an interesting question to me is how a society would look like without the concept of debt, since that's a concept possibly even older than money.
Unfortunately , that’s how it works. I wish I didn’t have to pay my bills trust me I would rather find other ways to keep electricity running through my house. I own my home and it’s already paid off the mortgage so why do I have to pay so much for property taxes? It’s ridiculous just for the school system when they’ve already screwed me over and I don’t even have any kids anyway that’s what the local lottery was for the school system but they still charge outrageous property taxes and they doubled mine last August i’m now I’m trying to fight to save my house
It certainly makes trade much easier having a common item of set value to serve as an intermediary.
anything that prevents from people to have it easier to just take whatever they want... lol
Until there are replicators for everyone, yes, it's necessary. So are governments to regulate the flow of it.
Depends. Do we go back to exchanging goods or services for goods or services? Shiny stone? Credits? Points?
Money was invented to facilitate trading. People were traveling and trading in prehistoric times. If money doesn't exist, it would quickly be recreated.
The only way for everyone to be equal is if no one has anything.
Money is not necessary but there has to be some way to exchange goods and services
Fiat currency, no. However, exchanges need to be made for society to function.
Even communist countries could not figure how to operate without money
I function best when I have least of it.
Yes its very important
Technically no, practically yes
