I gotta say, when Spongebob was on TV I was watching it when I was like 11 years old.
I didn't think much of it other than "hahaha, funny cartoon shows to watch. Funny sponge, stupid starfish, just some octupus and an 'ambitious' crab".
When I was 13 years old I began actually understanding their interactions and dialogs. At the same time depression made my body it's host. It was then, that I feel I related to squidward the most from the get go. Every time he'd say something like "too bad that didn't kill me" I was thinking "you and me both, squidward". Like squidward I began saying things like that too.
What a bloody mess.
And then idiots say "happiness is a choice".
