I don't think that matters very much. What does matter is that the person is a politician and that in and of itself is a disreputable thing.

What? Where? Politicians in the US get tons of big donations. At least certainly more than $5k from all their backers.

That is what I thought, However with PACs I guess there is a loophole big enough to drive a truck through. Biden had a fundraiser yesterday at $500,000 a plate. So it means that he is bought and paid for by who the hell knows.
