If that actually works really well to deter initial offenders and especially repeat offenders, I would be in favor if there's no less extreme way that produces such great results.

But where are the results? I am disappointed by people who base their ideas on ideal punishments absent results, since I suspect they're governed by emotional and vengeful ways of thinking.

And especially vengeful ways of thinking have a tendency to destroy ourselves just as much in the pursuit of fairness as the people we perceive to be most in the wrong.

So I just want to see fewer know-it-alls in this regard and more people who are asking what really works to make society better in a way where they test it and look for ways that they're wrong.

Like are we really concerned with children? Because if so, let's stop asking how to hurt people who hurt our children and ask how to prevent them from doing so. There are so many in my opinion who assume that hurting people who hurt people we love means we'll have less people who hurt people we love. That's a faulty assumption as we've learned again and again throughout history.

A: Let's suppose we have this sort of medical procedure which, at no harm to the rapist or molester, cures them of their tendency to do this that we can set them free the next day and be confident they'll never do this again.

B: Then on the other hand, we can castrate them with no results so show that they won't cease to do this but we can demonstrate that they'll suffer greatly. Let's even suppose we have results that show that a castrated person of this sort still molests and rapes others in their own way.

I am afraid a lot of people will fall in the B category. This is a big problem with our human nature. We are seeking more to punish for the past than correct for the future. We have lost the ability to forgive and move on and put faith in the idea that people can change. This is not an enlightened society if we think this way. Rape and child molestation are very extreme examples but we will not be able to grow even the lighter examples if we truly think this way, and if we truly think this way then we think this way no matter how egregious or not the wrongdoing, and if we truly don't, then we truly don't regardless as well.

That's too quick and actually probably not painful.
