Hm, $20 an hour, for a job, when most people complain they can't afford to live, yet you have republicans then complining it'll make things too expensive.
It's up to you, which side you want to take. The side of corporations (where it's too expensive), or the side of the people (where you're now making more money, at your JOB)
The issue is living costs are so high for most Americans they have to either push for more pay or lower living costs. Of the 2 it is easier to push for more money. Reality is living costs need to drop drastically.
This is what I was thinking but you honestly said it better. Which would be more likely to happen, though? It’s something.
I think (hardly remember) in my economics class it was something about it will just always go up because of some other factor and I just tried imagining a 1,000 dollar coke lol I barely paid attention but it didn’t seem smart to me.
And that’s what it feels like sometimes when you look and the price of a dog is like a price of a horse and a price of a horse a price of a car and a price of a car a price of a home and a price of a home a price of a plane lol
And my mother over in New York told me she saw a carton of eggs for like 12 dollars. A dollar an egg?
Meanwhile I paid in between 2-3 dollars for mine, and even still I remember when it was cheaper than this. It’s just insanity. That’s what it feels like.
@Rosexøxø it is why capitalism doesn't work. You can not have infinite growth on finite resources. Soon as a company makes it to space and harvests 1 asteroid the entire world economy collapses. Money becomes obsolete. It is why lawmakers are desperate to get ahead of space fare and try and stop billionaires from decimating the world economy by dropping trillions of dollars worth of precious metals onto the planet.
It’s just sad they had to make money or make something rare to make it valuable and make that very thing what determines who is able to have access to resources whenever and who lives well.
We took a longgggggg track in the wrong direction and I will just say I’m amazed at the structured WRONGNESS and how far this has gone 😂 for civilizations and societies 😂
Like can you believe it? lol
I honestly can’t believe it. Definitely a rat race and a hamster wheel.
@Rosexøxø they can but if they admit it then they also have to admit there is a massive problem. And admitting that means they have to make changes to fix it. And THAT is not something government's really want. Not when you dive deeper into things. They want control, submission and unquestioning obedience. If you don’t conform you are pushed to the side.
😂 it’s funny how whacky it is, but I swear some of the tears are also from sadness lol.
I see what you mean and I agree.
I’ve thought something similar before and I just think of course this is why and one of the many ways governments have failed us.
I never know who to point a finger to, but it’s messy that we can’t get a collective fix.
Like our founding fathers were great but not so much as geniuses- they didn’t have cures for cancer right then and there.
Their documents as HELPFUL and NEEDED as they were
Were not the pieces to world peace
So….
We need to CONTINUE to evolve, and this means CONFRONTING issues/situations and providing real practical solutions or steps towards that.
We still have people in time square asking them on new years
“What’s YoUr NeW yEaRs ReSoLuTiOnnnn”
And hardly anyone makes real progress and small goals to the big and complete thing
And we have people like this today
So how do we expect organizations and politicians to make small goals that lead to bigger, positive, effective and impactful results?
I don't know if you caught my drift. I don’t have all the right specific words in certain subjects and I tend to lean towards comparisons and metaphors, but I get exactly what you mean on this, and I simply just agree 100% with it.
It’s funny. It’s sad. And it has to be fixed. Thoroughly.
@Rosexøxø biggest way to get politicians to do what they are supposed to do which is serve the people is to actually show them what not doing so means. This means people need to wake up and stop voting for a party but an individual. Party is irrelevant compared to individual. Force the shit politicians out of office by not voting for them or voting for someone better. Problem is nearly every career politician is bad for the majority of people. And people still refuse to realize that
It's literally just farming voters from the uneducated (economically) who are generally the poor and they make up the majority of people in most societies.
They will fire people they will increase costs not just immediately but slowly and consistently until $20 is the new $15. It's all so predictable
@Rosexøxø I do not like that ideology purely because it does not contribute anything. I am a Catholic but the modern Catholic Church has gone so far from the old (that I agree with) that I can understand on some level that view but new life is and will always be worth it
And I respect that. The only thing I could contribute to it would be since of my new belief, I’d remark:
If that were an option, I’d agree that as the best way also.
Since, otherwise, well…
This is why I can’t share much on EVERYTHING. I’m sure this could be “nothing new” to some, and to others, truly unneeded. Just my thoughts. Even I shall forget them as the day goes on 😂
Yes, I’ve seen them. They work real hard for eight hours straight and the only get a 20 minute dinner break. They’re constantly on their feet always doing something. Except I don’t wanna pay for the food increase out of my own pocket fast food restaurants are not worth $20 a meal but the workers work real hard
Even transportation called walking from work to work cost money called buying shoes.
When I got my first job I worked my foot all the way threw my show. The transportation to work walking was to expensive to work 10 years ago. Need I remind you of inflation?
When the people arguing against it are so fucking retarded that they think 20 bucks an hour is a 6 figure salary, (Jesse Waters on PBD podcast) its hard not to support it.
$20 an hour yeah and what did that get you. Let us see , Hours cut , Job lay offs Oh I for got $16 big Macs $12 FF. Everyone raising their price. Except The Governors friends who were exempt oh and the governors fast food places that he owns Well done FUCKINGVover the people again in the COMMUNIST best traditions

People could try working at a restaurant in Kentucky for $7.25/hr, getting your hands cracked, burned and cut up, having half your co workers call off every other day to pop pills, get told to do 5 different jobs at the same time by yourself, put in overtime, then have 30 hours disappear from your paycheck and when pointed out, get asked, "Can you stay late again tomorrow?"... then they'd know. Trust me, they'd know.
Nope! Those jobs are supposed to me temporary, untill you get a real job. Not a career. And that's not fair for the people that worked for years to get a raise. And now minimum wage is catching up to that?
@msc545 According to working for fast food restaurants are not careers? If you own one that's different. We all been through it. Why is this generation more special that others?
A lot of the people that work for these fast food restaurants don't have the intellectual capacity to do much of anything else. Thanks to our crappy education system, they also don't have the education or the qualifications to do anything else. Some people survive literally by working at these jobs. I've met these people and I've cared for them when they needed medical Care. I know they exist.
@msc545 Well that is a problem then. But it still will cause other problems. Many small family owned businesses will be bankrupt and shut down. And for some of us that earned all the years to get where we are at. Seems unfair also. Basically the economy is upside down. The rich get richer and we all get screwed one way or another.
Being a professional in the energy industry, I personally I can’t wait to make minimum wage again after struggling for 15 years to get to where I am now.
No. I can't believe ANYONE is. I guess that many people are just ignorant of how economics works. This is a job for high school kids...20 dollars? Wow.
@msc545 "ALL" You use absolute terms to try and negate a point. That is a BS tactic. First, several have already closed, many will follow, many will be laid off but by the way you've falsely framed things, unless every single business, 100% of them close you try to say the point is without merit. The is middle school debate level.
You can say it is a "high school kids job" all you want, but actual adults with actual children of their own work in these places.
"Several have closed" is simply hearsay and gossip. Provide evidence to the contrary if you can, and not from Fox News or other right-wing propaganda mouthpieces.
"Many will follow" and "Many will be laid off" are your own unsupported dire predictions. Wait until they come true, if they do, before asserting them. As of now they have no validity and are just your wishful thinking.
@msc545 So now you want to argue the government should mandate that a person needs to work at McDonalds and own a home and support a family as a career? That is insane. Maybe if you are the manager, that is about it. Once again, you are showing ignorance of economics. The company has to make a profit otherwise there is no reason to start the business. You can't just force a company to give everyone a 7,000-11,000 dollar raise yearly and it work out. You are living in the world of utopia where everything just feels good and money grows on trees and everything just happens the way you want. It is obvious you are ignorant of these things and your entire basis of how you think a business runs in the real world is just how you feel about it.
Well despite my allege ignorance of economics, one thing I know for sure is that corporations in this state where I live Make excess profit. They can well afford to pay their workers more but they won't unless they are forced to. That is why we are forcing them to do this. They either pay more or they lay people off in which case their profits go down because they won't be able to produce as much junk food or they close their stores and again they won't be able to sell as much junk food. They are not going to give up profits. If anything they might raise prices a few cents which is not a problem for people who actually eat this kind of food. None of this has nothing. Anything to do with the government obviously.
Yes but the Corp. , Companies, Rich Fuckers cannot be allowed to raise prices to compensate for the wage hikes. The rich corp, have to have their profit margins lowered. The rich have take less. Socialism is the only hope for the working class people in the future. The wage gap has to be narrowed and the illegal immigration has to be stopped if the working class is going to get a fair deal.
Yeah. The owners who are willing to take a pay cut will see their businesses survive and the owners who are not will go out of business, perhaps getting a real job making 20 an hour and be thrilled since that is apparently so much to them.
I cannot believe some people legitimately believe fast food workers should make $20/hour. You people are seriously sick in the head. Minimum wage jobs are not designed to make you self sufficient. Go out and learn a skill, and provide a better value to the world if you want a good wage. It’s not the responsibility of others to subsidize you.
@Kingofkings1992 It does not matter what they were "designed " for. It only matters what they are used for. For many people, it is the only job they will ever have because it is all they can do.
Doing that would raise the minimum wage in all other places and inflation would then rise along with it and then they’d be back to square one. It would be good temporarily!

With cost of living in cali this should be every job there. Lowes for one example is one of the worst for giving a livable and sustainable wage to local grossly inflated cost of living. The turnover is high.
That's simply too high, even in California, and just further stokes inflation. It's also ridiculous to suggest that fast food workers deserve a higher minimum wage than child care workers.
But at what cost? Less fast food full time positions. Higher costs. People eating fast food less because they can’t afford it as much. Restaurants closing. And more inflation that will inevitably lead to $25/hour, and then $30/hour, etc.
@CrabCakes11, The solution is to drive down inflation and costs. All this is doing is a super temporary bandaid that will actually make the situation even worse over time.
These are not solutions. This does not actually help anyone. It’s hurting everyone but the richest people and corporations. The last 4 years have been the greatest consolidation of wealth in human history into the hands of the uber wealthy and monopolistic corporations that heavily influence governments.

The purpose of minimum wage jobs has never been to support yourself until the commies started yapping about it.
The COMMIES?
@handsomelad70 queers whatever you want to call them.
"Commies" linked to "queers?" Well, you learn every day.
@handsomelad70 the venn diagram overlaps quite a bit in the US.
Really? With whom would this cover boy handsome,160+ IQ black man overlap, were I American-born, not just descended?
