Trending & News There are no fundamental rights. The concept of "rights" is human imagination at work. We consider a "right" as something you deserve and, within the context of a society, you should have rights because for the society to function, its citizens must give up certain things.
Put another way, you are an animal no different than a squirrel or lion or alligator. You breathe, eat, pee, poop, sleep, and, if you're lucky, get to make littler versions of you. Nature owes you nothing. Nothing owes you anything. But, you have an expectation that you will do what is necessary to survive. When people live in societies, we are giving up some of our actions that we may use to survive, but the price to society is to give you "rights" so you can survive despite that loss. For instance, if we lived in anarchy like prehistoric humans, killing another human isn't a problem if you need to do it to survive (such as protecting yourself or family). With no laws, you committed no crime. Of course, the person you murdered might have family that now comes after you. But, in a society, murder is considered illegal, but you do have a right to defend yourself and society would recognize that.
As to a right to privacy ("fundamental" - whatever that means here - or not), depends on the society. I think the answer is "no" to a large extent. For instance, colleges are not obligated to give all their students their own dormitory room with no roommates. If you don't like having roommates, then either don't go to that college or pay for your own place off-campus. In this situation, you don't have a right to privacy in the sense of having a right to your own private room...
"Put another way, you are an animal no different than a squirrel or lion or alligator."
Oh no. Yet another evolutionist who thinks we're nothing more than animals, and therefore don't count, have no purpose, weren't designed.
Give it a rest! Maybe you aren't any different from an alligator, but I'm sure most of the rest of us are.
You clearly don't understand nature. It isn't savage, the way humans can be because we have free will, which many often use to make bad decisions.
It is.
But it's also a responsibility.
You can easily and "legally" give your privacy away and then it won't be about rights anymore.
We play too fast and loose with our privacy these days that doesn't come without consequences
Everyone has right to privacy and I hate it when people invade other people’s privacy

You cannot be entitled a privacy right. You have to earn it in your responsibility with it. Especially as a young person, being raised by your parents. Until you prove you can be trusted and are level headed with responsibility showing throughout all your choices. Hell No To the No No No Hell No..
It's gotta be. Personal space of a person is of utmost importance and shouldn't be invaded in my opinion.
Here though, in desi households there's nothing like privacy lol.
Lovely pfp by the way. Looking nice 🙂
Thank you ☺️
It should be. Of course anything you put out into the world is no longer private. Once you've shared something with someone else you can't expect 100% privacy.
I doubt, that those, who say "yes" mean what they say. But i'm not perfect either. Yet.
Edward Snowden. 1984. PRISM. Big Tech Companies.
to an extent, it is and it should be, yes...
The right to privacy is literally a big portion of the law.
Yes! No doubt about it. Without our privacy being respected by others (especially the governments that oppress us), all the other rights are meaningless.
Yes it’s a fundamental right for everyone to have privacy.
I really like this question.
I think privacy is a fundamental right in certain scenarios
In your home or residence your office your personal space. Yes should be protected
