1 yThe possibilities are excellent. The gatekeeping of those possibilities is what screws it all up. Certain things should be a government-provided/facilitated human right, and never a for-profit industry, and healthcare I believe to be one of those things. The quality of the healthcare one receives should never be contingent on finances and how “useful” a society has deemed one of its citizens to be from a productivity standpoint.

1 yAbsolutely not!! They REFUSE to try methods that don't require damaging tests or actual CURES for things! All they know how to do is TREAT symptoms, USUALLY with drugs that'll either make them worse or cause other problems that MORE drugs are needed to treat and those cause MORE issues!!
We've HAD nearly 400 KNOWN NATURAL CURES for cancer for the past 100 years, AT LEAST but, "science" refuses to make use of any of them because chemo & radiation make doctors filthy rich while you can easily get the REAL cures either in your back yard garden or in a grocery store for about $15.00 and STILL take home change!!! I'm just a drummer in a rock & roll band and I cured mom's cancer twice as well as that of a couple other people!!
Not only will they ridicule you for using or even suggesting these things but refuse to know anything about it! Remember a few years ago when HQC and Ivermectin were being used to cure covid and, even though they worked, they were still being ridiculed for using them? And, what did THEY have to offer, instead? Stay 6 feet apart and wear a mask! Both of which the CDC just reported last week were completely worthless and utter bullshit!! Just what WE'VE been saying all along!!
There was some guy, about 80 years ago, that made a crusade out of ridiculing some nurse that was given a cancer cure by American Indians. In the meantime, she used it to cure at least 1000 people!! Years later, HE came down with cancer and secretly contacted her to cure him, too!! She did!!48 Reply- 1 y

The healthcare system is its own worst enemy. The (in) ability to pay for healthcare both induces health-destroying stress and causes people to skip healthcare thus making their situation worse.
Healthcare should be nationalized in some way.
Let me ask you:
Do you sweat over your ability to pay the US Military?
Of course not. The military does it's job. When they have a new job to do - like fight a war or kill some terrorists - they do it and they don't bill you for it. You pay for them alright... with your taxes, but the Defense Department doesn't give you a bill for their services now, do they?
And, thus, you sleep peacefully at night not even thinking about the cost to you or worrying about your security.
Well, that's the way it should be with healthcare as well. Like the military, the healthcare system should be ready to do its job when needed, paid for by your taxes, so you can sleep peacefully at night not even thinking about the cost to you or worrying about your financial security.

Anonymous(36-45)1 yIts rigged by government policy for the last 60+ years effectively removing most all price selection (with insurance) to only go up in price as fast as as it can.
The upside, and the reason why old federal politicians are not addressing the issue in a serous way is Medical technology and investment in the same is exploding and we are closer than ever to immorality for those that can afford it.
We are by insurance obliged to buy the all the latest services, and spare no expense or make any effort of avoidance. Because it costs us as an indiviual nothing, only the collective via the bill we split with everyone else.
This results in an enormous market for infinity valuable medical "services & goods", that in turn can help funds infinite amounts of medical research and development. Depending on how much the FDA, and HHS allows to enter the market
That of course is a major bottle neck now, for the same uncontrollable lawless federal Government (able to make any law/ regulation on any subject) allows politicians & otherwise to line thier own pockets as gatekeepers too giving themselfs a nice share of that Medical bills. Either in the form of donations, jobs, or lawfair award when out of office.
Basically if you don't have a very limited to non-individual domestic object issues federal goverment you really can't control it because of it's design originally intended to keep it limited.
A quick fix would be to add an amendment that makes every law expire automatically, but that would be worked around the same way they do it with the budget where the same fix already exist. Via enormous bills nobody can read much less parse. but allegedly "must pass".10 Reply
1 yYour healthcare system sounds scary. You never know when you need medical treatment. And with the medical bills I hear about you will be in financial ruin if God forbid you ever need serious medical treatment.
Are you going to call it the American way and take pride in it?
Not to say that it should be all covered from taxes. People who act irresponsibly, negligently, or stupidly and then need medical treatment as a cause of there behavior should be made to pay 100% of the medical bill they incur. But the rest should be covered from a common fund. Today it might be the neighbor who needs medical care and tomorrow it might be you!

1 yno, I think our society in a lot of ways is garbage.
The ER can be good, but you can get killed there accidentally all so easily.
we don't have health care... we have disease creation and disease treatment. Some of it is very advanced.
our society is highly corrupted by wealth, which leads to stupidity.
I won't go into details...
10 Reply 869 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. hell no. for the average American if you get sick or hurt you're going to take a big hit financially and you might even end up homeless or in a lot of debt. that's not ideal at all. as someone who lives in Europe i can't imagine what it would be like to have to pay anything. health care is free where i live. that's honestly how it should be. no one should have to pay like 20 000$ for a couple days at the hospital...

1 yFar from it. I visited the emergency room not long ago for head trauma (concussion). I received one hour worth of care which consisted of them performing ct scans to check for internal bleeding. I was shocked when I received a $55,000 invoice. Thank god I have good health insurance through my job, otherwise I would be in debt for a very long time.
10 Reply27.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yes, it is not as good as it was before Obamacare but it is the gold standard in the world.
I had a total hip replacement a couple of years ago. I got an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon within 2 weeks and the procedure was scheduled a month after that. I had the operation on a Thursday morning and was home Friday afternoon.
I got 8 weeks of outpatient Physical Therapy and had a few follow up visits to the surgeon. I had to pay aa 20 dollar co-pay for the whole thing.

If you honestly think the American healthcare system is something that other countries want to emulate you are completely delusional. The term that I have heard from many Americans is „FUBAR“.

@DryGermanGuy how long would it take in Germany to get an elective surgery done? I bet half the people die of old age before it happens.
- 1 y
Germany's life expectancy is higher than that of the United States and increasing. Yours is decreasing. So obviously we are doing something right. By the way, lots of rich Arabs, Russians and Africans come to Germany for medical procedures.
- 1 y
@DryGermanGuy LIfe expectancy in the US is declining because of self inflicted causes like drugs and alcohol. Also the suicide rate for middle aged men have ben climbing. I am making my own life expectancy.
- 1 y
We have the exact same detrimental factors in Germany.
- 1 y
@DryGermanGuy No, the suicides are unique to the US. Also we have astronomical fentanyl deaths due to the open border policies of the Biden Harris regime. RFK jr has brought it to the national consciousness the chemicals added to American processed food that is not legal in Europe.
- 1 y
You obviously don't know that 80-90% of fentanyl is smuggled into the United States by Americans. So there is no "open" border policy that could massively influence this. The Lankford proposal that would have provided more border agents and more drug detection equipment was sabotaged by Trump's minions in the congress.
- 1 y
@DryGermanGuy Most fentanyl comes from China after it is sent to the Mexican cartels. The fentanyl is then smuggled across the open border. Nobody really has a CLUE HOW MUCH IS COMING IN BUT THE Border Patrol routinely intercepts a load large enough to kill all the residents of a small country.
- 1 y
Yeah, obviously where is a huge demand there will be lots of suppliers. You can thank the Sackler family and all their corrupted doctors for that situation. Another reason why pretty much all countries want nothing similar to the American healthcare system.
- 1 y
@DryGermanGuy The realtiojship between big drug companies and politicians is a big problem. Maybe Trump and RFK jr can fix it.
- 1 y
Yeah maybe. After they brought down the prices of bacon, lettuce and tomato, or as Trump calls them, "the groceries".
@DryGermanGuy OF COURSE he's delusional, DryGermanGuy. Like every other Yank, he's been brainwashed to believe socialized medicine, the CITIZENS' BIRTHRIGHT of every other First World nation, is somehow un-American, even Communistic, which permits sky-high "health care" costs which many Yankees can't afford, the anger over which led to the recent slaying of insurance crook Brian Thompson.

Anonymous(30-35)1 ynot everyone will ever be satisfied with any healthcare system
fact of the matter is, while there are people in need of healthcare for reasons outside of their control, there's others deliberately being unhealthy and taking advantage of the system via junk food, drugs, smoking, alcohol, promiscuity, pills etc.

1 yIt could be a lot better but if you get health care from a government like Canada you have to wait six months for a specialist also Canadians come to the lower 48 for special services because of the long long wait for these operations. So think long and hard if you want the government to provide your medical service. You might just die waiting for the government to ok your lifesaving operation.
10 Reply 12.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. America doesn't have healthcare systems, it only has healthcare businesses.
Like any business, it's for profit and doesn't give a shit about its "customers" hence why its so poor.

1 yIt's not perfect, but I would never expect any government to do more than the bare minimum for me. Rich people aren't that trustworthy. I am satisfied because I can at least see a doctor when I want even if it costs a bit out of pocket.

Anonymous(36-45)1 yWhat healthcare system? Last I checked, we have a sickcare system, not a healthcare system. Our sickcare system sucks, it's controlled by bigpharma that aims to keeps us sick enough to be reliant on their products but not too sick were unable to perform daily function. Our sickcare system will never change till we get money out of politics, which is next to impossible.

1 yAs an American: No. We really do need single-payer or Medicare-For-All. Profit-driven health care, which is the current system (even with subsidies from the Affordable Care Act), is not ideal.
10 ReplyI heard that the largest cost in healthcare is the money going to trial our lawyers. That might be something to look at.
10 Reply710 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No I'm not satisfied with American Healthcare. I'm actually fighting with the insurance company now because they want to kick my wife out of physical therapy because it's "not medically necessary for her to be there ".

I think the US has good quality healthcare in that when you are finally able to get care the quality of it is excellent, but trying to get it and pay for it is a nightmare thanks to the insurance companies who do not want to pay for anything, and who will do nearly anything to avoid paying.
I have a 6 to 12-month waiting list to see potential patients which is just unacceptably long.
Anonymous(36-45)1 yNot really, but as with all complex systems, it's much easier to fuck it up even harder than to make it better.
