How to get a job after being unemployed for eight years?

So... I'll be honest. I've been chronically unemployed all my life. I'm 25 about to go on 26. I had a job when I was 19, but I was fired after 2 months due to poor performance. After that I never had a job again. I'd apply for jobs and get interviews but I'd never get hired. Whenever I would get hired I'd be fired in less than 2 months. I started going back to college and I'm trying to get a job but I feel like since it's been 8 years since I've actually worked, people are going to take me seriously. How can I get back into the workforce?

okay- you need to get serious and move out of mom's basement. Go to your local Community college and ask to speak to a counselor. Get some advice on careers. Think about how you would like to live your life.
You need to bring some structure into your life. Enroll is some courses to provide a reason to get out of bed,.
Showing a potential employer tht you are working towards a goal will go a long way towards getting hired.
You have dug yourself a pretty deep hole so do not expect miracles overnight.

@exitseven obviously she doesn’t support herself if she’s not working dummy. Why do assume she’s “in her mom’s basement?” There’s nothing inherently wrong with living at home at her age, especially taking into consideration the costs of living in today’s world.
