You have to understand where Republicans are coming from: school shootings, to them, are A) defensive events where the #1 concern is “don’t let this turn into a gun control conversation”, and B) a potentially offensive opportunity on the occasion that you can tie it to an identity other than “straight white conservative man.”

I’ve kind of boiled it down at this point to: people who subscribe to left wing politics care about how all Americans (and people worldwide, in some cases) will be affected. Right wingers just operate off of “How is this going to affect ME?”

It’s an ideology based in selfishness, in “me first, fuck everyone else.” That’s kind of the underlying character flaw that seems to steer it all. These people are OFFENDED AND OUTRAGED if someone else reaps a benefit that they don’t. I’ll never understand that mindset, it truly blows me away. These people have ZERO communal instinct; they’re antisocial people, really.

It’s also not lost on me that they have this very obvious strategy of pushing and poking and prodding people, begging for a reaction, and finally, FINALLY, they get someone to snap and act crazy, and they go “oH mY gOd, tHe LeFt iS sO ViOLeNt!!!”🙄🙄🙄🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Remember “every accusation is a confession” with these guys. Remember these are the guys who, anytime talk of a potential Civil War comes up, they’ve got their chest out and saying “come get some”, flexing their arsenal of weaponry. Remember these are CLEARLY the bullies, CLEARLY the bad guys. They act like they’re minding their own business, and go “jeez, what’s everyone so upset about?😇” when their dumb shit gets appropriately reacted to.

They’re either incredibly stupid or wrongly think that we are, but no one is being fooled, it’s clear as day.

I say all that to say that their entire brand is ABSURD dishonesty right in the face of obvious reality.

I notice they aren’t taking about all the right-wing-y stuff they wrote on their gun. They apparently weren’t a fan of Trump, we’ll hear about that…. but I’m hearing that there were also racist and anti-Semitic sentiments as well. Jesse Watters probably won’t mention that part though🙄

This all aligns with the dumbassery of the right and their apparent inability to understand nuance. “Shooter was trans….. trans = liberal”….. like that’s literally what these people think, unless they put on rubber gloves to push Caitlin Jenner out front real quick so they can pretend like it’s not an anti-trans movement. They love a token.

The fact is, we don’t know the whole story yet. We DO know the narrative the right wants to push: “The left are a circus sideshow of lunatics who are no fun at parties, wish harm on America and its people, and want to make apple pie and heterosexuality illegal.” Which is obviously fucking crazy to any person with a functional brain…. but if these people had functional brains they wouldn’t be conservative in the first place, lmfao.

So, the headline will be “lib-loving trans shooter attacks Christians and everything that’s good about America.” It won’t be true, but these are idiots who are literally signing up to be lied to. That’s the part that I don’t know what we do about it. We can’t make people want to be smart, we can’t make them want to be good people. That’s where I’ve sort of thrown my hands up.

Funny how we totally stopped talking about that crazy Minnesotan MAGA evangelical preacher who straight up murdered Democrats politicians, their spouses, AND THE FUCKING DOG. Why are these people always shooting dogs? That alone is enough to lose you my support. But why WOULDN’T I expect these people to be cruel to animals? They’re cruel to their own species….😒😒😒

It's a factor to be understood. But yes, balance in reporting is relevant.

It is concerning in that other reports talk about the level of emotional distress of this population. should TG's be banned from owning guns? Should it be declared a mental illness? ugh...

People died because someone harbored bad emotions. why, how to resolve to avoid future... that's relevant. If can't, how to protect. Do we ban everyone from guns?

Should we ban everyone from knives, should we ban everyone from having dogs... dog killed a neighbor not long ago.

these are the issues of our 1st world times...

I agree that this is being disgustingly politized but when you factor in trans is less than 1% of the population and then you see how many schools' shooters trans is out of that tiny amount, and it does look bad. It's one of the reasons I no longer believe in transsexuality. I don't think it's a gender I think it's mental illness. I have never spoken with a single trans person that didn't immediately come across as mentally unwell. Every single one I've met have been unstable narcissist and sometimes outright delusional. I don't even mean that as an insult I mean it by the dictionary definition of the word as in I genuinely think they are so unwell they've created a false reality around themselves they genuinely believe in. This IS a canary in the coal mine.

The numbers answer the question. It's rare for a trans to be the shooter. Makes sense that people consider that to be important. People usually look for the data outliers, what makes a situation unique.

Another way to look st the numbers posted...

Transgender people make up less than 1% of the population, which is about what the numbers show... 4 out of 4000.

the fact that they are transgender isn't a major factor at all but i think it's still nudging the public debate into the correct direction because we should definitely should take mental health factors into account when deciding whether or not to hand a person a gun. like why else would you think does no other society have as many shootings even if there's actually as many or more firearms per capita? clearly the usa is doing something wrong.
