Well up to 1913 it was the ottoman empire and after that the Young Turks formed a dictatorship which than became a one party state in 1923 and a multiparty democracy in 1950.

So did Europeans impose heterosexuality on Turkey when they couldn't impose laws. If you are saying it was European culture influencing Turkey like democracy well that was up to Turks to decide if they wanted to adopt it or not.
