Why are some people on social media so hateful?

So, I recently had an argument with someone, who has a channel on TikTok.. (I didn't even argue with them. I just made a comment that apparently they didn't like, but I wasn't offensive at all). Then the next day I found out they had screenshotted my reply and made a public video responding to it. Although I went back and replied to it, explaining what I meant and apologizing if I had offended them, the person didn't accept my, but went back and made a new video (!).. I also had another 10 people attacking me in the comments.

Like I don't understand what was their goal. Were they trying to make themselves feeling better or getting validation by tearing someone else apart? This is something I've seen happening on either sites. I rarely see a civilized dialogue/debate between people, who disagree with each other. They remind me of little children that throw a tantrum because their parent didn't get them their favorite candy.. This isn't something I've ever seen in real life. Why are people on the Internet like this?

They are a bunch of spoiled brats. They hide behind the computer and they want everybody to agree with them. if they don’t like your comment , or if it triggers them they feel the need for some kind of Internet revenge. Then they want to roast you and dog you and pay you back even though it’s not necessary to pay you back, but that’s what spoiled brats do because they know they can get by with it without any repercussions. That’s why that person made a video and wanted to get their followers to back them. Its a shame that’s why you should avoid people like that in the future. I’ve been through plenty of Internet fights, and I’ve always held my ground and taking care of business as well. But at the end what does it really accomplish? In person they would never ever try something like that you and I both know it.

This is why it is sometimes best not to respond to videos on tiktok, there seems to be a lot of toxicity on there.

Exactly.. I've learned my lesson. From now on, I'll be watching only funny and cute animal videos, as well as makeup tutorials and staying out of societal/gender ones
