Teleworking is it better to buy your own equipment?

In terms of laptops or tablets your company should insist on you using their equipment to prevent viruses and hacking.
In terms of simple voice calls the employee usually supplies or uses their own. The really good headphones are pretty expensive or were when I was looking for that perfect headset. If the company doesn't supply or supply lousy ones I would invest in my own.
Depending on who you work for, you do not get a choice. A friends company just dismissed a bunch of people for using their own kit after being told multiple times not to. I know with my work you cannot.
I bought it, the company refunded it... Officially it's the company's stuff, lol...
but realistically no one would take it back from me :D
And after a few years, it's yours anyway...
I wouldn't want the company going through my personal stuff outside of their vdi so no i’d prefer the companys equipment

My company only allows equipment they provide to connect to their systems and applications. I work from home and I sometimes use my personal laptop to send/receive email with colleagues, and to attend TEAMS meetings, but everything else requires me to use the company laptop.
Most companies want you to use their equipment. One reason is they want their security software on it. But you wouldn't want to use their system for your personal computing unless they permit it.
Generally, 'yes'.
You SHOULD BE able to take the expense as a 'work from home' business expense with periodic depreciation along with proportional internet access. Check IRS regs.
Kind of depends on what you do. Since the companies I've worked for from home are very security conscious, they didn't allow doing company work on personal equipment, though you could use things like your own monitor if you wanted.
It depends on what kind of work it is, but generally speaking it's better to use the company's equipment. Unless of course you're planning to do things on there that you'd prefer them not to know about.
What do you need besides a laptop? I suppose if you want a bigger monitor or a fancy keyboard you could splurge.
what kind of equipment are they offering you?
Each company will have a standard for BYOD. Its not a simple case of buy what you like.
I had the same question
