I'm a programmer by trade. I got turned off by Apple immediately because my wife got an iPad soon after we married, and I got so excited by the hardware. Then I made a way so that you can write iPad programs on an iPad using a visual node graph to express programming logic.
And I was so proud of it and wanted to share it to kids and teach them how to make video games, then headbumped the Apple Store and EULA. They don't allow anything like my software where you can make your own iPhone apps directly on an iPhone.
The only way I'm allowed to distribute my iPhone compiler that lets you build software for iPhones on an iPhone is if someone jailbreaks their phone. And most people don't bother.
After that, 100% Android. I do like the GUI on iPhones a bit better, like the way you can touch and zoom feels a bit more responsive at times. But I like to have a "programmable mobile computer", and iPhone is a like an unprogrammable mobile Nintendo.

Apple way is like if you build new tools for mobile, you can't ship it. It's like I came up with a chainsaw to cut down trees 10 times faster than people with axes. And iPhone says, "We don't allow people using anything but an axe to cut down trees. But you can ship the lumber." And I'm an engineer -- I'm not interested in starting a lumber business, I'm interested in new ways to produce lumber that can cut down trees faster than anything else.

Apple is just a shit company in my opinion. As bad as Microsoft is, Apple is 100x worse. Linux is kinda nice except for distro hell. It's usually Microsoft vs. Apple for most people. Microsoft is way, way, way better for designers and creative types who want to build brand new, innovative things. Apple is. "Our way or the highway." They're totalitarian, bigoted people whose heads are stuck so far out of their ass that they think shit smells like roses.
- 26 d
That said, in defense of Apple, there are lots of uncreative people in this world. And Apple is perfect for them. It's the overpriced brand for mediocre people. It's the Rolex of computing.

iPhone here. But honestly, smart phones, aka pocket computers became commodity items circa 2012 for me when mobile data reached 4G speeds. The phones are all reliable. The OS's are all capable and the interfaces are easy to use. Data speeds are fast enough. Storage is large enough and cheap enough. Cameras are good enough. Battery life is good enough. App libraries are nearly identical. Size and weight are nearly identical.
Honestly, the only reason I haven't switched to an Android phone is the pain in the ass Apple ecosystem and the fact that Apple continues to offer older iPhones at half the price of their current release flagship models.
But I see smartphones like a toaster at this point. Any of them will do the job just fine. In fact they will do more than I need. I'll pay for functionality, not status or bragging rights.

Android... specifically, Samsung. Their phones are five years ahead of Apple. When Steve Jobs was the captain of the ship Apple was the leader. Now they are a follower. I have a Samsung Fold and have had one for five years. Apple doesn't even have one (foldable) and their phones are basically the same every year. Also with Android I have much more freedom to customize my phone. With Apple you get what that sell you.

I agree. I have a Samsung too and they're the best as far as my experience goes with these devices.

Avg android user, “I can customize my phone and it folds” literally ads nothing to the functionality of a cellphone. Apples entire ecosystem is perfectly balanced and cohesive, they’re not the same every year, they’re significantly faster, have better cameras, bigger batteries, built better, better antennas, faster modems, faster graphics, but because it doesn’t look different it’s the same? That makes NO SENSE! guess what, basically NO ONE uses that foldable phone you have, I have literally NEVER seen one in someone’s hand, and they’ve been out how long? And why is that? Cause after folding and unfolding the stupid thing 50 times, it’s not cool anymore! And you realize you just spent $1500 on a phone with last generation galaxy S specs, cause the screen folds! Wow! Bet that stimulates your pea brain doesn’t it, that’s what makes a phone good, being able to fold! And having a nasty crease in the center, and basically destroying the screen with your finger nails if you aren’t careful. Such a goofy statement in general, “I can make apps different colors and fold my phone it’s so much better” yea you can also get last years processor and GPU in your $1500 dollar flagship smartphone, and previous generation worse camera then the galaxy series, lmao. “They’re so cutting edge they put old components in it cause they know barely anyone will buy it” lol.
Android, because Apple annoys me with their pseudo elitism. This is just a phone and marketing ideology being Apple customer ambassador just because I bought their overpriced product offenses my intelligence. I owned two I phones and I those phones aren't worse or better but Apples marketing is toxic for every person who knows how marketing works.

@freyared they also appear behind the curve compared to Android always keep fresh to keep competitive and apple rests on its lazy behind - a tongue in cheek for those who know who know. Behind lol 😆

I started with an iPhone back in 2010 and switched to android later
I loved all my android phones they did everything I needed them to do
This year I switched back to an iPhone 16 pro (the latest one) because my needs have changed
As a young kid in IT i wanted a phone that offered flexibility and easy access to features and tools
Today I simply need something durable insured and somewhat classy.
An iPhone does all that
Plus the outstanding camera is a nice plus20 Replyu

not on PC, not on phones... it was just too restrictive and not compatible for me to even bother... Windows and Android makes logistics easier, nowadays is less of an issue, but I just keep up with what has worked for me, lol53 Reply- 24 d

Hi five lol

I already have MacbookPro, so the Iphone coordinates with my laptop.
I've used Apple products since 1992 and find them intuitive and easy to use.
You can do a lot of troubleshooting and there's phone support for the product that is cheerfully and clearly done.

@Screenwriter I'll be the guy using Microsoft and windows (the poor simple man's devices) lol for me until the day or night I die lol 😂😆 because I have used Mac's and apple stuff and I just felt like - Microsoft is for simple brains who need user easy
- 10 d
@NicholasRedone You can't call microsoft and talk to a person about issues you're having with your device like you can with Apple. I find these devices better supported and you don't have to pay extra for the support, either. Apple is for idiots. I count myself in that ballpark.
First machine I had, didn't have to even read the manual that was included until six months in. So simple. Today, lots more bells and whistles, but still pretty user friendly. I've used windows at work and the library. They've both come closer together, so that's great.
But as for su pport. Microsoft does not give you people to talk you through issues. Apple does. I'm happy to pay more for the devices to get that kind of help. And my used macbookpros have lasted as long as a decade. Sturdy little things.
Only reason I bought new ones, I couldn't expand the amount of RAM further to support larger programs... It always happens!!! More powerful programs need more RAM to work and make older machines obsolete.. ...
Android for a fraction of the price. I don't understand the hype with Apple (phones, iPads, computers).
Some say iPhones are far superior as far as image quality is concerned. I sincerely doubt that. Other manufacturers hace come a long way and are catching up. I use a digital camera with a large sensor if I care about the quality of pictures.

I have owned or used an iPhone from launch of the iPhone 2 , it’s not that I don’t like android or even prefer iPhone for any other reason than familiarity, and can appreciate the appeal of both but it’s just a phone. I have since bought fully into the apple ecosystem with an iPad , Apple Watch , Mac book pro and I Mac , although I do have a windows games rig. To me apple just makes sense. I will likely never switch to droid.

I have an iPhone just because I started out taking my girlfriend’s hand-me-downs when she would upgrade, and at this point all my saved media is in Apple format, so why bother switching, at this point, haha

@WhiteSteve apparently in some countries especially, it's women who prefer apple or iPhones. Did you ever ask her why or why the conservative View on "if it ain't broke don't change it" to android?
- 25 d
@WhiteSteve purely even just to hear what words would she say in response to "so why the iPhone's, I mean why not androids or why would you ever android" and "have you ever ever android lady? ,"

100% Android. All my life. The capabilities of Android products are usually better and they have much more customization features.
I see apple products as sheep products. The people who buy them tend to just follow the crowd.30 Reply - 26 d
Android! I switched to Apple for a good camera and FaceTime, but the rest of the phone is missing features Android has.
Swype came out on Android long before Apple got it and I suspect Apple might eventually catch up with other features.

@TrueConfection so uh how old were you with your first android that you stick to? Or both?
- 25 d
@NicholasRedone How old was I when I got my first Android smart phone? Maybe 34?
I wasn't interested in mobile phones, but someone said I was missing out on the technology. A female at work I'm friendly with had an Android, so I bought a similar phone, and I've now bought the updated version of the mobile.

@Sunrising and the things you two friendly 💓😉 folks have likely enjoyed on each other's androids since lol 😆

@Sunrising I've loved android for years the very first android I had was awful - they've come a long way and by 2020 they were exceptional - Huawei wasn't for me

@NicholasRedone I keep trying!

@Sunrising asking her out for a coffee - the third date Netflix and popcorn on the couch 🛋️
- 14 d
@NicholasRedone She's very nice, we've been out together when we've arranged a works outing between a few of us. I think she's fun, you never know one day!
- 14 d
@Sunrising intriguing : have you given polite hints or has she that maybe there's romantic interest or potential friends with benefits interest? I guess you'll only ever know with time if one of you ever invites the other over lol "just the two of you, and two android phones hahahaha" - "I just got the latest app" lol 😂 😆
- 14 d
@NicholasRedone I don't give hints, it's gone beyond that! But she's got a little girl, she's wonderful, and needs to spend time with her. No we're just friends.
- 14 d
@Sunrising "don't blame yourself" - 🙂☺️

I pick by price and by usefulness for myself: Android.
The simpler the better - I survived my youth by relying on myself instead of ''apps'' and gadgets :)

@Simslover92 ditto Elaine, no confusion with Seinfeld, my second Vivo phone is 2.4 years and counting. My first vivo I loved for a year yet I needed a bigger vivo for memory 👀📱 space 🌌🚀
- 24 d
@Simslover92 I'm still deciding this year, with still space, if I wait if vivo returns to Aussie phones or I may think options 😄🇦🇺
- 24 d
Including holding onto the vivo longer or thinking "but while I have the cash" I may have to go Motorola or. Something Chinese. Preferably not Oppo and not the Koreans if I can avoid them. The galaxy I had was good yet. That was 2020. I've realised how good the Chinese are and cheaper for it as added sweetness 🎂🧁
- 24 d
Never heard of a Vivo phone but I'm sure they are great!
- 23 d
I had my S8 til last year. Now it's the S24 and I ❤️ it!!
- 23 d
@Simslover92 thanks lady : I'm undecided yet as many new Motorola phones have the stupid time display vertically lol 😆 and some phones that do that turn me off. If I can't get another vivo from China like the one I've enjoyed, I'll have to consider other brands or some brand that's decent, cheap and offer 256gb at least (rhymes)' 😄😄😄😄👏🏻🫠😋🤭

@DrPepper12 wow I can't wait to be able to afford that.
@NicholasRedone you're welcome. - 23 d
