As a Celebration for my 50th MyTake, I decided to do a fun take which involves all 50 states in the USA.
For each state, I am going to write one aspect I like, or want to see for each state. Given I've only been to twelve states in the country, this should be interesting to see what I want out of the other 38 states I've never been to. It may be a city, landmark, tourist attraction, or random component of the state(cost of living, job market, etc.).
Well, it's time to let the list begin!
Alabama(I've have been there).
What I like about Alabama: The small town living. While this is prevalent in the southeast in general, no state seems to be it better than Alabama.
Alaska
What I would like about Alaska: The scenery, of course. From what I can see in pictures, the snow-capped mountains, the rivers, lakes, the ocean, and the landscapes in general are breathtaking.
Arizona
What I would like about Arizona: The Grand Canyon National Park, which seems cliche, I know. Who wouldn't want to visit the most famous National Park in the country?
Arkansas
What I would like about Arkansas: Eureka Lake. It's one of the most awesome places in the country for outdoor activities, and fishing.
California
What I would like about California: The beaches. From what I can see, the beaches in San Diego, and most other beach cities in the state are beautiful, and are also full of entertainment on the beach.
Colorado(I've been there)
What I like about Colorado: The city of Boulder. The University of Colorado Boulder campus is the most beautiful college campus I've seen in my life(and my alma mater is Miami University Ohio, mind you), and the city is so much fun.
Connecticut:
What I would like about Connecticut: The Mark Twain House and Museum. As a lover of history, and literature, it's a dream come true for me.
Delaware
What I would like about Delaware: The history. The state was the first to enter the union, so it obviously has the most history to it in the country.
Florida(I've been there)
What I like about Florida: Just like I said about California, it's the beaches. Panama City Beach' being the most beautiful beach I've ever seen though.
Georgia(I've been there)
What I like about Georgia: There are always things to do. There is always a block party to go to, or another fun event of some type.
Hawaii
What I would like about Hawaii: The islands, of course. Who wouldn't want to be on a tropical island paradise?
Idaho
What I would like about Idaho: The mountains. The state has some of the most beautiful mountains I've seen in photos.
Illinois
What I would like about Illinois: Wrigley Field. It's always been my favorite baseball stadium.
Indiana(I've been there)
What I like about Indiana: The city of Santa Claus. That's about it. Indiana is probably the worst state I've ever been to.
Iowa
What I would like about Iowa: The fact it's a completely neutral state from a political standpoint, and it seems open for discussions on all sides of the political spectrum.
Kansas
What I would like about Kansas: The low crime rates, and peaceful living. There aren't many states that do that better than Kansas-if any, for that matter.
Kentucky(I've been to, and is basically a second home to me).
What I like about Kentucky: There is so much I like about Kentucky, but Mammoth Caves takes the cake for my top tourist attraction in the state. The caves are so large, vast, and the tours are exciting. I would argue Cave City is fun in general too. You have to check out this hidden gem.
Louisiana
What I think I would like about Louisiana: Mardi Gras, of course. Do I need a further explanation?
Maine
What I would like about Maine: The scenery is breathtaking, and I love the cliff-side parts of the ocean up there.
Maryland
What I would like about Maryland: The boat ports, and the interesting boating activities.
Massachusetts
What I would like about Massachusetts: This might seem weird, but the highly accessible public transportation. I would love to save money on gas, and car repairs-as well as get extra walking exercise.
Michigan
What I would like about Michigan: The Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It's beautiful from what I can see, and like a wonderland.
Minnesota
What I would like about Minnesota: The Twin Cities. They're so beautiful, and the entertainment options are incredible.
Mississippi
What I would like about Mississippi: The good ol' small town living prevalent in the southeast region of the country.
Missouri
What I would like about Missouri: This sounds cheesy, but I think the Gateway Arch in St. Louis would be interesting the check out.
Montana
What I would like about Montana: Star gazing. Montana supposedly has the best skies for star gazing, and other astrological activity.
Nebraska
What I would like about Nebraska: Lincoln, and the University of Nebraska. I think it would be fun to visit it seems-or at least more fun than anything else in Nebraska.
Nevada
What I would like about Nevada: Reno is one of the few places in North America with legalized prostitution, so let's go to the biggest little city!
New Hampshire
What I would like about New Hampshire: The city of Portsmouth, and the fact it was an original port town. The history, and charm would overwhelm me!
New Jersey
What I would like about New Jersey: Kinda Ka, the tallest roller coaster in the world is located at Six Flags Great Adventure, which is in New Jersey.
New Mexico
What I would like about New Mexico: Elephant Rock, one of the most underrated tourist attractions in the country.
New York
What I would like about New York: This one is too easy: New York City.
North Carolina(I've been there)
What I like about North Carolina: The scenery is beautiful, especially in the Maggie Valley area. I miss Ghost Town in the Sky :(
North Dakota
What I would like about North Dakota: The Native American culture is rampant among the state.
Ohio(I'm a lifelong Ohioan)
What I like about my home state of Ohio: The love the fact we truly get the feel of four seasons. While sometimes we get them all four in the same day, it's nice to know we have something here for everyone. Aside from this, there aren't more highlights from my state.
Oklahoma
What I would like about Oklahoma: The ranches, and trails are unique, and pretty.
Oregon
What I would like about Oregon: The forests. They are the most stunning I've ever seen, and I would love to hike in them.
Pennsylvania
What I would like about Pennsylvania: Kennywood. It's one of the oldest amusement parks in the country, and it seems like such a fun place to explore.
Rhode Island
What I would like about Rhode Island: Block Island looks like an amazing travel destination.
South Carolina(I've been there)
What I like about South Carolina: The old fashioned towns are so unique, historical, and quaint. Instead of going to Hilton Head, check out the towns. You'll fall in love with them.
South Dakota:
What I would like about South Dakota: This one is obvious, but I want to see Mount Rushmore in person. My grandma grew up in South Dakota, and said when she saw it for the first time, it was breathtaking.
Tennessee(I've been there)
What I like about Tennessee: I like almost everything about the state, and it's probably my favorite state I've been to so far, but I love the Smoky Mountains the most about the state. I would recommend staying in Pigeon Forge, or Gatlinburg one day, and checking them out.
Texas
What I would like about Texas: They can call it weird all they want, but I would love to see Austin at least once. Austin is such a unique, musical, and eventful city it seems.
Utah
What I would like about Utah: The Red Rock Country in the national parks of the state. They are stunning, and don't even look like something on planet Earth.
Vermont
What I would like about Vermont: The green mountains, of course. Once again, the scenery of a state captivates me.
Virginia(I've been there)
What I like about Virginia: The mountains are pretty. That's about it though. There isn't much to say about the state(for the record, I've never been to Virginia Beach).
Washington
What I would like about Washington: Seattle looks like a fun, new-wave city to check out. Plus, the economy is booming there.
West Virginia(I've been there)
What I like about West Virginia: The cost of living is dirt cheap, and the mountains, and scenery are gorgeous.
Wisconsin
What I would like about Wisconsin: I love cheese, and I would love to explore all its unique cheeses in the state.
Wyoming
What I would like about Wyoming: This one seems obvious as well, but Yellowstone National Park is the largest national park in the country.
