How many countries have you visited?

I have been to loads of countries; Austria, Czech Republic, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Bulgaria, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Thailand, Jamaica, Canada and a couple states in the US (Hawaii and Florida).

I'm from Netherlands by the way.

I've been to loads as well. I was a seasonal wildland firefighter for over a decade, and I typically took 6 months vacation to travel internationally every time I was laid off in the winter. I've been a bit spoiled by this and don't really consider it having visited a country unless I've spent at least a few weeks there, preferably a few months to get to know the people and culture. Ideally, I will stay the full 4-6 months, but I also do like to move around a bit so it depends on the size of the country and what it has to offer.

As for a list, I may be forgetting some but I'll just rattle off as I remember. First off, every country in Northern and Central Americas (from Panama on up), not counting islands, though I have been to Hawaii. Also Jamaica, Trinidad, and Tobago. In terms of US states, I've been to most, I'll say probably between 40-45 of them, including Alaska, where I stayed for a gorgeous month of August.

In South America, I"ve been to Peru, Bolivia, Brazil. Love them all, but have spent the most time in Brazil (three separate trips total).

Never been to Antartica or AUS.

In Africa, I've been to Morocco, Egypt, Sudan, and Eritrea. Sailed off the coast of Somalia, but didn't make landfall (same for India and Sri Lanka. Close enough to see the shore, but didn't land).

Europe: Ireland, Portugal, Spain.

Middle East: Yemen and Israel

Asia: Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam. Thailand is another I have been back to several times and always have a fabulous time. I did have a ~24 hour layover in Philippines (Manila), and did get to go out and explore a little between flights, but like I mentioned above, it didn't really feel like a proper visit at all.

Traveling is quite fun, and I love how much it opens up my perspective and always teaches me new things. <3 I also love how free and adventurous people I meet seem to feel when they are traveling; it makes for lots of wonderful romantic memories.

I was very close to Germany. VERY close. I entered Switzerland from France at Basel and, in France, stayed in Turkheim near the German border; our friends from Hamburg visited us in Turkheim. And I was close to the Netherlands as well being in northwest Belgium.

I ALMOST went to Turkey near Syria but was thankfully terminated from that job before I was to travel there. And I had a chance to take a job that would have me travel to China, but I knew I'd be killed on the job and my wife didn't want me to go, so I turned it down.

I forgot to add Italy. In 2007, we were driving from Belgium where friends live to Italy...
Belgium->Luxembourg->France->Switzerland->Italy.

When I was a kid in the 1960s and 1970s, my father was working at JFK Airport in New York for the now-defunct airline TWA. So, we got to fly free. In 1970, we went to Acapulco Mexico when the World Cup was on. We visited Greece (1971), Spain (1972), and England (1975), with flight stopovers in Lisbon Portugal and Rome Italy.

I first visited Canada in the summer of 1991 when my girlfriend had a summer job at Nortel in Kanata Ontario near Ottawa. Later, 1995, I was in an LDR with a woman from Halifax. Later, in 2002 and beyond, my wife and/or I visited Canada several times while we were living in upstate NY.

Other than those two countries, I've been to, in no chronological order (also, once unless mentioned otherwise):

1. India (3 times, 6 locations: Delhi, Agra, Srinagar, Kolkata, Darjeeling, Agartala)

2. China (2 times, 4 cities: Beijing, Kunming, Guangzhou, Shanghai)

3. Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and other places that I can't recall because I was very young)

4. Singapore (Also can't recall details because I was young)

5. Thailand (Pattaya, Bangkok)

6. Nepal (Kathmandu, Nagarkot, Pokhara)

Many countries I have been to many times each, especially in Europe. I have been to all 7 continents but Antarctica is not a country… less than a million people have been to Antarctica since it was found 200 years ago.

Been to Saudi Arabia only. Thought about going to Russia or Turkey and then I got stuck in responsibilities. Apparently I have to do everything without any say of my own 😤. I have been saving and saving to go travel but just stuck in things out of my control. Visa process is also cumbersome for me so, I just avoid EU. Even for education, I can't go but my brother gets preference.

Hahaha. Come on. It's ok. You will not offend anybody. I mean, for example, when I visited all the countries in the Baltic area, we visited one city each of most of the countries. I got the impression that Helsinki was the least happening place or the least enjoyable place. Its possible that I did not go to the fun places, but that is just the impression that I took from that experience.
