My parents' marriage is loveless... is it ok to don't give a damn about Valentine's Day?

The happy pictures they take on FB is a facade, nothing but a lie. Once the day is over, they're back to being nothing but just roommates.

Is Valentine's Day really even worthy? It seems like just an average day, it's not even a holiday (never was) and you already have every single day to dedicate on your friends and loved ones. Screw you Valentine's day, screw you. I don't care about it. Is it ok to feel that day about that stupid day?

i grew up with not ever seeing my parents show each other affection and them getting a divorce. it really messed with my perception of love in my growing years. so i totally get you. even tho i am in a relationship, i don't care much for this holiday. a few times i did, but each time he didn't get me anything or forgot. i told him how it made me feel. and now each time it comes around i get panic attacks. and i feel like he only does these things because he feels like he has to. so i'd rather it just not be a holiday and we can move on with the day. plus i constantly compare myself to what my friends got for valentines day because they always post it on social media. i never post about it.

Diamonds supply and demand is controlled by an effective mafia, they are no where near as costly as what jewelers charge. Buy a 20k diamond set, end up not getting married, and you won't even get back $6k. Hell, buy a set and take it to a competitor the same day and you'd see the same result.

Weddings no matter how extravagant will still have guests claiming they've see better or at a minimum, comparing every aspect where your wedding didn't live up to where other weddings did better.

Valentines day, you know all stopped going on dates and are lucky to go on one now once every month or two, but let's all get dressed up and go out for date night at the same time as everyone else, and pay for 3 or 4 dates you could have gone on but didn't
