Who are the guys to avoid in COLLEGE?

i know that upperclassmen call freshman girls "fresh meat"...meaning they think were easy...which is definitely not the case...but I do want to have guy friends in college and maybe meet a special guy to call my bf...but I'm scared I'm going to end up getting played or hurt...so who are the guys that I avoid in college to prevent this from happening

you don't want to go in scared...just be aware your surroundings and the people you talk to.

I'm a guy and I meet some wonderful girls, that's cause I don't like some hotshot. If you treat them like friends and they treat you like friends...you never know it could escalate from there. The guys who will give you attention, but not overdue it are the guys that you should go for. gotc147 is absolutely correct...the quiet guys are the ones who will most likely like you for you...and not use you. There's a such thing as too much confidence, and most of the playboys act that way because they are putting up a smoke screen to distract you. Flattery always get girls to an extent, however, being able to notice it and becoming wise to the "player" game plan is your line of defense.

The guys that are quiet...most likely will not approach you like the others, because they care about others. They do not want to overwhelm you or act like someone there not...it's just not them. In fact, being a quiet guy myself...I'd feel really strange to walk up to some girl and just talk talk talk...trust me, you'll be able to tell who the "players" are. They will tell a girl everything they want to hear and more. It's called sweet talking.

The quiet guy may make conversation, but he's not going to be over the top with flattering remarks like the other @ssclowns do. You won't find these types of guys at Frat Parties...

If you don't wanna meet scumbags, don't go to frat parties...

Make friends and meet other people through friends, this is the best way to do it.

Join activities and meet people with the same interests as you.

-Get a study group going...or find a study buddy.

generally speaking, the players will be bold, outgoing, smooth and charming. they're like hunters who know exactly how to stalk their prey.

perhaps the most important way to avoid guys like these is to avoid parties with drinking. in fact, avoiding drugs/alcohol and people who abuse 'em are one of the best ways to stay out of trouble in life.

ditto all the comments about quiet guys. Women often complain about the lack of goodhearted guys, without realizing that they're overlooking those guys every day of the week. don't be one of those girls who wants a goodhearted guy who's also a charming, bold confident guy ... you usually can't have it both ways.

first year is the worse, because being a girl, we adore the first attention we get from a guy, and it makes us feel good about ourselves...and we fall for that guy and see good in him being blind and yea...things just tumble from there. What I'm trying to say is...dont have high expections from men or anything, but do have some expectations. Meaning, if you do meet a guy and he seems friendly, you should only focus on friendship and respect and not rush so fast. A lot of girls in college immediately become possessive of the attention they get from a guy, which is an esteem booster (great) but it doesn't mean he's the last guy on earth (bad) and you don't have to change yourself to please him.

The guys who come off as too fast or too confident or too fresh, you should keep a distance from. The best guys...men actually, mature men that are worthy persuing something with, are usually the shyest and quietest ones (decent). Silence says more than sharp-mouthed cockyness. The quiet guys are husband material, and the loud overly friendly and social guys are the player/heart breaker bad news type of fellas.

Just remember that there are a lot of fish in the sea, so don't fall weak for the one guy who gives you way too much attention...he obviously has some selfish goal if he's showering you with that attention when you just met (strangers). And love- true love, is never selfish.

If you're overly cautious and looking for which guys you should avoid, you'll miss out on the decent ones. Just take things slowly. Don't assume all guys are bad, but don't assume they're all good either. It's just like anywhere else; you have to gauge what kind of person a guy is as you get to know him.

In the military when we used to get new females arriving at the base we'd call them the "new talent," and if they looked good we'd call them "BDU babes."

Rule of thumb: the guys to avoid are the ones that come up to you with a lot of confidence and feed you a lot of lines/compliments, the guys to take more seriously are the ones that take days or weeks to ask you out.

You just need to meet them and spend enough time with them to get to know them.  This doesn't mean you talk to a guy for a week then sleep with him.  A player isn't going to chase you for months so if  you want to see who's a good guy, don't put out.  I feel like I've said this a million times.

The ones who are loud and obnoxious, wear baseball caps sideways and have their pants hanging around their knees. The ones who are going to come up to you and try to pick you yup and act all confident. Don't fall for it.

Pay more attention to the quiet guys.
