Senior asking freshman to homecoming?

Question

So I'm a senior this year and our homecoming dance is coming up in about 3 weeks. So I'm trying to figure out someone to go with.

Now there's this freshman who I've known for at least 11+ years. For at least the past 1.5 years, she's had a crush on me, but hasn't admitted it yet, at least to me. Her mom noticed, told my mom, who told me. Now that she's in my school, almost every time I see her she waves to me and smiles. however, when ever we are hanging out with other kids her and my age she acts differently. I don't really don't know how to say it but it's not as "girly/flirty" I guess.

Anyway to the point, I'm wondering if I should ask her to homecoming. I know she's going, and that sea really excited about it. Is it a good idea? and I'm kinda worrying what my friends will think about me taking a freshman to homecoming.

Ideas from anyone would be greatly appreicated.

Yeah.. as kdizzle stated, don't get her hopes up unless you like her back.

But in all honesty, I use to think about the same thing regarding dating a freshmen as a senior. It really is silly now that I look back at it. Who cares what everyone else thinks? And this is a girl you have known for 11 years, ask her!

She probably is under the same social pressures that you believe you are under... thus her unusual behavior around her friends. Go over to her house one afternoon or night and ask her. Don't do it in front of her or your friends.

One major piece of advice here... most of your friends in HS will never really talk to you again unless you are extremely close. In my opinion, taking someone you have known for 11 years is more important then social acceptance. And who knows, if you do like her.. maybe things can eventually grow from there? maybe not this year.. maybe not the next, but you two have a strong foundation and long history. Childhood friends like you two are uncommon.

The younger girl seems kind of cute. Just as long as your respectable, remember her mom is friends with yours, then I don't see the problem. As for her acting different, everyone does this to some extent. Be happy that you know the real her, since she's known you for some time. She probably just has a different personality with her friends, so no biggie.

I don't think the difference in grades will be a big deal. Just make sure that you don't ask her unless you like her too. That would be unfair to her, and she might get the wrong idea.
