I am FINALLY, after years and years (and years), going to get my braces off. My only question is what do you do when you kiss? Take them out?
When you first get braces off you have to wear your retainers all the time so that your teeth don't morph back to their old positions. If I am going to be seeing my boyfriend practically 24/7 and fooling around for most of that what should I do? Does anyone else have this problem?
I've never really had that problem.hmm, I guess just plan ahead and have away to take them out and store them.I dunno, maybe in your purse. Your teeth aren't going to shift right away--it took your braces years to get your teeth in the position they are in right now. That's pretty much all I got for you. Good luck!
Thanks. Yeah. I guess maybe I'll just wear them as much as I can and take them out only when I need to, for full on necking. haha. - 6 months ago

My cousin didn't wear her retainer as her docto told her to and her teeth went back crooked and 5000 dollars was wasted. So definitely wear your retainer. I get my braces off in a few months, but my friends say wear your retainer (who have had braces). You onyl have to wear it 24/7 for a little while, then you can switch to overnight. And if I am thinking of the same retainer it is the clear one that slides over your teeth. IT is hardly noticeable, so I don't see how it would pose a problem. I think your boyfriend would rather taste a little plastic than metal. If he could deal with making out with you when you had braces I think a retainer will be and big deal. And I think having nice teeth is way more important than making out with your boyfriend.
I think the ones I'm getting are those plastic things with the metal that attach to your teeth. Not the invisalign kind. So, I'm jsut worried about how it will work with all that plastic on the roof of my mouth and under my tongue.
You're right though, nice teeth are important. But I do like making out with my beau. :P - 6 months ago

Oh yea I know what you are talking about. But I think if he made out with you when you had metal on your teeth, he can deal with making out with you with a retainer. - 6 months ago
It's been a while since I got my braces off, but I'm pretty sure I only wore my retainer 24/7 for about a week. I stopped wearing it when I was at school because it was uncomfortable. I usually wore it when I was at home, and always overnight.
And your teeth stayed straight only wearing them that much? I think my ortho said 6 months of wearing them all the time and then over night a few times a week after that. - 6 months ago

Yeah, they stayed straight. I mean, I tried to wear my retainer as much as possible, but my orthodontist cut the sides when I went for an appointment and I never got used to it after that, it was so uncomfortable. - 6 months ago

My teeth and gums are really sensitive, by the way. That's why it was uncomfortable. - 6 months ago
