The treadmill will make all the difference, although I find a stationary bike is not as hard on the joints and I can go farther. The thing is that the weight goes on slow over time, and to stay off, it seems like it needs to leave the same way. What I've seen is that If you overdo it, you'll get burned out and possibly sick. I've found that 2 pounds a week is about all I can expect (once I've worked up to it). That's about 8-9 lbs a month. But it depends on where you are starting from too. Don't just jump in and try to pick up where you left off. That's more important for us older folks, but even young people can get hurt doing too much or things they aren't used to. There is no magic method that I know of that doesn't have side effects. One other tip.as you ramp up on the treadmill, don't compensate by cutting down other activities.

Sugar free Jello is fine with fat free cool whip.

Honestly I don't recommend that anyone get into the habit of drinking any type of soda.

It is bad for you all the way around diet or not.

Reward yourself once per week .with a treat.it gives you something to look forward to and you don't feel so deprived.

I have no opinion about Atkins Diet, however, if your a person who has the genetic make up to gain weight easily then you just have to change the way you eat for a life time and you have to exercise .and cardio is what helps the most.getting your heart rate up.when depending on your weight .a chart that you go by tells you how high it should be and cardio should be done for a straight 30 minutes.
A station bike, treadmill.waking fast.dancing .anything that you can do to keep your heart rate up for 30 mins.you have to work up to it of course but your young and you should get up to the appropriate heart rate in no time.google it to find the chart to measure weight to get a heart rate.

Good luck.

Don't wait till summer. Start now.
Also, I think you'll get better results if you up the amount of physical activity and just try to eat health-consciously. Also, try not to eat huge dinners or snack a lot in the evening - you are just going to go to bed and you won't use it up, especially if it is junky food!
Try to change your lifestyle and include fun & practical types of physical activity. Walk places you need to go, go cycling with a friend etc. You can have fun doing it!

a healthy amount is 2 lbs a week. any more than that, you'll gain it all back and you'll lose important nutrients that your body needs if you do anything drastic that might shock your body. exercise and watch the portions that you eat. I'd eat maybe 5 small meals instead of 3 big ones. eat foods that are high in fiber like whole wheat pasta or multi-grain cereals and bread. try low fat food like eat steamed veggies instead of sauteed ones.

I wouldn't recommend losing as much as possible. Losing 1-2lbs a week is healthy. Eat protein, limit your carbs. 1-2 slices of bread is enough carbs for a day. Tilapia and salmon has good source of protein and little fat. Eat apples for snack inbetween meals and keep your metabolism going.
Fast walking burns just as much as caloires and it's easy on your joints. But personally, I like running better because of the rush that I get after I'm done. Treadmill is very boring for me. When you do go run outside, watch out for uneven grounds! It is harsh on your feet and ankles. And remember not to run too much. There is a limit when body starts to burn muscles instead of your fat if you run too much. I find running up and down the stairs is the best way to burn fat. Switch it up once in a while so you won't get burnt out. Getting a work out buddy keep you motivated to keep working out.
As much as important doing cardio, weight training is important as well. Schadule your muscle parts so that you give them time to rest. While you do your weight training, don't rest too much inbetween sets to keep heart rate up but you can take more time on your big muscle groups such as legs.

Depends on how hard you work at it. I lost 50 lbs in 8 weeks through a LOT of running and weight lifting also... just being very active in general. Strict diets don't work. Don't you want this next year of high school to be the last time you have to worry about your weight. 1000 calories is only siting yourself up for failure. You won't be able to stick with and keep it off. You'll just balloon out after you off the diet.

Do not starve yourself... that NEVER works. Make yourself a diet plan and STICK to it! Determination and Patience is the key to losing weight. Your snacks should be veges and fruits and overall, healthy diet.. stay away from greasy food and anything fattening.

Also if you got out of bed and went for a quick run before you took your morning shower then eat a good breakfast, then go for a lunch walk kind of fast, then at dinner time do your big workout....... You will see your metabolism increase in a matter of two weeks (at your age and weight) . It will all of a sudden just happen and you will start burning calories like a normal no young person. When your watching tv be stretching.........be stretching every time you can. Stretching burns a heck of a lot of calories and you lengthen your muscles.

Plus check the inside of your lower eyelid and see if it is a pale pink color. If it is you are low in iron and you need a herbal iron like Floradix for at least 30 days straight. Iron will put oxygen in your blood and you will feel like working out. Its amazing.

Goodluck!

Weight training plus cardio is the best way to go. The weights help you build muscle, which burns more fat 24/7. The cardio helps you burn a lot of calories in a shorter period of time, and gives your metabolism a boost. Do you run for the entire 30 min? If not, I suggest you start with a pace that you can do, but is a little difficult. Keep that same pace for a week, then add 30 secs each day after that, or add at your own pace. Make sure you add in the weights though. In the first 2-4 weeks, you will probably lost double what you would have without them, and part of you new weight will be in muscle.

If you want to lose weight and keep it off you shouldnt lose it to quickly or you will gain it right back.

I suggest that you eat breakfast ...........and if you eat fruit which you should eat it in the early part of the day, fruit can turn into sugar if you digest it slowly and sugar turns into fat.

Try to cut out sugar and carbs as much as possible.

Trying not eating any bread this summer and very little sugar along with walking ....dancing is also a good form of exercise........cardio for 30 minutes a day will help you drop the weight.

You should not weight more than 120 according to those charts but I think your first goal should be 140.........and your target date should be sept 30th. That's 10 pounds per month.

Good luck , I wish you success

Also you need to know that fat cells shrink they don't go away so be aware that putting the weight back on is easy to do especially if you lose it to fast.

I am 5'2 and weigh probably 170 and I've lost 10 pounds in two weeks from weight watchers. You can eat whatever and it works! I really suggest doing that in addition to running cause I am really happy with what I've done so far.

best of luck!
