Braces on adults?

I don't think any less of someone who's over 18 and has braces. I know people at school who have braces, and a few people in my family had braces when they were older. I take it to mean they had a problem, and they chose to get it fixed.

I had braces when I was younger, and I actually just got four brackets on today so I can get another dental procedure done (but they're in the back, so you can't really see them). Regardless of what anyone else thinks, I have to have this procedure done, and I need braces before that can happen.

I feel so old when I see my orthodontist though. Even when I was filling out forms, it asked what grade I was in, and there was a line for my parent's signature, not mine.

Braces on any person, regardless of age, aren't inherently ugly or attractive. They do tend to lend a more youthful appearance to an already youthful face, especially in combination with other facial features such as big eyes, freckles, or a small nose.

Usually when I see an 18+ person with braces, I think that they must have had a minor dental problem that they just didn't bother to get corrected earlier in life.

Braces are NORMAL. I had them, glad to be rid of them, but definitely glad that I have the smile I do now!

Even if you do look "not quite as attractive" in them, it's definitely worth it if your teeth are bothering you.
