She originally refused to sign it, but a few days before her wedding, she agreed to sign after her husband promised her he would do away with the prenup once the two began to have children. He did not destroy the prenup, even after they had children, according to his estranged wife.

The couple separated, and a court ruled on Feb. 20 that Peter Petrakis had "fraudulently induced" Elizabeth Petrakis to sign the prenup that hung only on a verbal promise.

But Elizabeth Petrakis' cousin Alisa Houraney claims that there was more to the marriage's end than a problematic prenup

Houraney and her now ex-husband Steve Houraney were married at a 250-person wedding in Garden City, N. Y., in 2007. But Houraney said that within weeks of the wedding, she suspected the affair.

Houraney said that she and her cousin Elizabeth were so close that Elizabeth was in the waiting room a few weeks later when Houraney gave birth.

I'm not voting because I don't think she should get nothing, but she should get something -- just not as much as she did. The reason is because I researched further in to this case and it seems there were witnesses of his verbal agreement between the two of them and a team of lawyers when the draft (s) yes, plural, of the prenup had been made. The case for fraud was proven, otherwise if it's just he said/she said it wouldn't stick. His contract was void therefore they were back at square one.

I wish more people would read more about these things than jump to conclusions. There are always holes in the story the media gives. this was one of them. I read the initial article and immediately thought, "No. I have to get more of this story." I actually hoped to find nothing to support this tramp, but unfortunately, the system did find a way to prove her ex husband was a liar, so I have to say, Peter Petrakis sort of did this to himself too.

@hellionthesage well I do think alimony is important. Especially in times like the 50's and 60's where many women stayed home and we're afraid to leave relationships due to the fact that they couldn't survive on their own. And I do think that's important and needed.

Alimony has been around for a very long time, women currently make up a large portion of the work force and thanks to many laws cannot be descriminated against which can even lead to them being better paid (Like in STEM fields where women are few and companies have to fight over them to meet the quotas) so by that reasoning alimony really doesn't need ot exist except for the occasion of the wife being a dependent, yet by this same token a man in the same position should also be paid alimony yet rarely are. Feminist advocacy groups (National Organization of Women, or NOW) pushed for these kinds of laws, as well as the laws that allow women to get full custody of children regardless of what the father wants and regardless of whether or not he is a good father. It has advocated for abortion which allows women to opt out of parent hood while advocating for child support preventing men from doing the same.

It also instated the duluth model of domestic violence that we use today that states that men are the primary aggressors thus ignoring 50% of the victims of domestic violence because they were male. They have also pushed for laws that designate rape as a penetrative act which conviently leaves women out of that definition meaning all men who have been raped by women (statisticly as many as women have been raped by men) are not under the law rapist nor are there actions defined as rape. If a women is intoxicated and has sex then regretts it, thanks to feminisim she can accuse the man of rape despite giving her consent. If she is sober and he is drunk, she can accuse him of rape. If she is sober and he is drunk and she has sex without his consent, its considered funny, just ask Amy Schumer who joked about how she did this to a man in college and how pathetic he was because he was black out drunk and unable to perform to his rapists satisfaction, she was at a feminist event.

@hellionthesage well I personally dot agree with those women. Like you said I believe it's okay wen the woman's a dependent or it's made to compensate for something (say physical damage or something in cases of domestic violence). Besides that I don't think it needed.
Also it's very rare that women make more. Obviously there are the occasional cases where women make new than thee male counterpart. But studies show women make 75 cents to every dollar a guy makes. Not saying that's right or wrong but that's just what studies show.
There's actually some feminists trying to help with gender roles that make it seem like men are incompetent as parents. So that when it comes to court cases many view them as more suitable parents. I believe that's better and that the child should go to the better parent. Because that's only feminist/fair.

And in fact many men actually aren't consistent with things like child support. I think child support is important because as a partner you did make the child so you have to deal with the consequences. Especially because theirs preventive measures for babies. But many studies actually show that most procreative aren't up to date on child support and there are many cases every year about lack of support.

@hellionthesage cruelly the idea to protect women and children is more of a science thing. It's easily known that it's easier for one man to impreagnate several women than it is for a woman to be impreganated several times.
Also base on likely good of survival it's known that women and children are typically less likely to survive drastic situation than males. That's not my opinion that's just honest fact.

Also as for abortion, I don't care personally, what I care about is that men are being forced to be parents when women are not, that is inequality plain and simple. Men paying for 18 years for while a women can abort a child immediatley if she so desires is not fair and not equal. Rape/defect/mothers well being make up less then.1% of all abortions and thus is not a valid argument, yes a woman should be allowed to abort a child if she was raped, but tha is not the reason women get abortions. Rape is rare only about 4% of the male population is accountable for 100% of all sexual assault and rape. That same statistic also applies to women raping men by the way. Rape is so hard to prove that rarely anything happens to the accuse whether they did something or not.

Most child support is so high that men are imprisioned because they cannot pay which in turn racks up the bill while there in prison and removes any chance of getting a job so that they become incapable of paying ever again and get cycled through a system fo being forced into prison and then being forced back because they were unable to pay because they were in prison, meanwhile we have extensive documentation that has shown women lying about paternity and making men pay for children who are not there's, but guess what, its not illegal and the money does not have to be returned. Where the hell is the equality in that? Where are the women who are suffering like this?

I think you should have to have an official check by a gynecologist to prove that Eire filling for child support. under no circumstance should a man or woman ever be entitled to an ex spuses money possessions nor assets not even if they have no job or money.

if they have children there should be child support but it should only go to the children. if the spouse needs to raise the child support because they can not properly care for them from what they are receiving then the children should be sent to the more suitable parent i. e the one that can afford them (assuming there's no abuse or drugs or anything that would make them unfit)

The general rule in a divorce (I've been through one) is that whatever the each spouse has before they marry, they get to keep. Anything gained during the marriage is split 50/50. And then, there is alimony, in which the "richer" spouse is supposed to pay their spouse alimony so that their lives are similar economically.

From what I read, proving his fraudulence was ahead of anything else thereafter. There were witnesses to prove the verbal agreement existed on more than one account. When the time came to learn of her cheating it was then hoped her signature on a legal document meant something, but if the document is void, it does not. My problem was knowing whether or not a verbal agreement even sticks. I guess her first outright refusal to sign, and practically being coerced to sign was taken in to consideration. What did it for me was the witnesses, in a legal environment, who could attest to his lie. He sort of stuck it to himself. Too bad. Both are probably deserving of each other.

Read in to this further. Why did he think he had a right to coerce her to sign something she didn't want to, and trick her in to signing a legal document? Both were actually pretty greedy. Not just her. He did something that actually shot himself in the foot thinking he could skirt around the legalities. In a legal environment with witnesses on more than one occasion admitted his intention. Under those provocations, the document is considered void after the first child is born.

What I haven't found is why she wouldn't have sought out the prenup after the birth of the first child. She gave him three children, and it seems to have never been brought up. It had to have been on their minds back then.
