First Time Meeting His Sister?

I know many of you have experienced meeting your new boyfriend/girlfriend's family for the first time.

If all goes well (you have to know my shy boyfriend who really only slightly suggests things but he would leave things up to me, so I'm planning to bring it up tonight), I will be meeting my bf's little sister for the first time this weekend.

All I know about her is that she's 23 and works at a Subway. I know they are very close and go out together a lot, but since my boyfriend started seeing me more often, she hasn't had much time to spend with him lately. Their father is not around, and my boyfriend is the oldest child.

I hate being this way, but I really would like to be liked and get along with her. Could you please share with me on some ideas or things I can do when I meet her to at least let her know that her brother is in good hands and that we can all hang out together?

Bad news: You can't make someone like you. People derive their own opinions from what they experience. The only thing you can do is be yourself. If you go in being nervous, you're going to try too hard to make her like you which could have the possibility of backfiring. Be calm. Smile. Do anything you'd do with any friend in public. Because it's his sister, she's going to draw her opinions from how you treat her brother. If you treat him lovingly, she's going to love you. If you treat him like crap...well, expect the same in return. If you're really nervous about her liking you, do your research. Find out what interests her. If you're lucky, there will be something in common (besides your boyfriend/her brother) and you can play off of that. Ask your boyfriend what she likes and buy her a little gift. If she's a huge chocolate/lip gloss/wine fan, you can pick up something easily for under $20. If you get something too expensive, she might think you're trying to buy her approval so go small. Like I said before, just be yourself and be friendly Good luck!

Thank you! I normally never think this hard and just be myself in most situations, but this time around seems different to me. I don't know! LOL Anyway, you are right. I'll try not to be too nervous. I know I treat my boyfriend with all my care and attention, so that shouldn't be a problem. Wish me good luck! Thankg again. Oh, and I'm baking chocolate chip cookies that my boyfriend likes. I'm thinking she might like those too. We'll see!. That way it won't look like I'm "buying" gifts for her. LOL
