My boyfriend gets hit on all the time at work, should that bother me?

My boyfriend's job requires him to visit at least 5 different houses a day to work on their home. He has told me numerous times that women have hit on him while he's been there. One time a woman asked if she could watch him do his job, and was saying suggestive things to him while he did it. The other complimented him on his body and good looks, and even asked some invasive questions about his personal life. I told him to tell them he is definitely NOT single, and that their remarks make him uncomfortable - but he just laughs at me.

These women are usually in their early 30s, and I'm 21. I shouldn't see them as a threat, but I have a feeling my boyfriend is also attracted to older women. I should be happy that he tells me the truth, at least, but it still bothers me. Sometimes he slips up and calls them "hot" or "attractive" and I breakdown. He rarely if EVER calls me hot or compliments me - he says it's something I should KNOW he thinks already. (BS?)

How can I get him to compliment me as easily as he compliments these random women? It really bothers me. Should I make up stories when guys hit on me hardcore? I seem to get jealous more than him because I never am reassured by him that I am attractive, while I tell him all the time.

What would you do? Please, any advice would be nice. Thanks!

you can't change the way your boyfriend is. If you get upset about this, then he might stop telling you the truth. He can't help it if he thinks those girls are pretty. I know it bothers you, but if you really think about it, you can't change how he thinks. The only thing he could really do is keep his thoughts to himself. But I am sure that would drive you crazy as well.

Tell him it worries you. Because he sees all these attractive women who try to hit on him. Let him know you appreciate him telling you the truth, but you can't help but worry. He might reassure you, but if he doesn't, then... you will have to fix it yourself.

You can do it by gaining self esteem.

Do things that make you feel attractive. Work out. Fix your hair. Wear clothes that flatter your body. Put make up.

Be around people who make you feel attractive. Friends, family, guys? :)

When you feel attractive, people will see it, and be drawn to it. Including your bf.

If you trust your boyfriend, then why should it bother you? You should take it as a compliment that you have good taste.

I do trust him, but I also know he is a BIG flirt.

Trust isn't a thing where you say "I trust him but" that's not trust. Trust is not circumstantial. Sounds like either you don't trust him, or you're insecure about how you stack up to other women. Doesn't he come home to you?

I'll admit, I do feel insecure compared to these other women. He tells me that they are attractive, whereas he NEVER EVER tells me those things.

Either he doesn't find me attractive, or he doesn't want me to know I am. I don't know anymore.

I hope everything works out...i hate to say, but I'm not convinced him complimenting you will diminish insecurity...I think generally someone has to work through that on their own. But you're right, a little reassurance once in awhile can't hurt. Best wishes.
