How to deal with boring texters?

There a guy I'm talking to and he is so boring all he ever say is "nothing", "cool,"Oh, ok", "lol", if he feeling spunky he may put a smiley face. I've tried asking him direct questions. what have you done today? what is your favorite song he reply idk. I even 20 questions that usually get people talking, but every question I ask he ask. It seem as though I'm the only one holding up the conversation. I've even told him he was dull.

I even tried not texting him for a a few days and I had 10 texts all saying hey and one said good morning. My next step is telling him not to text me at all.

Haha wow, this sounds just like the guy I was talking too. No effort what so ever when it came to texting. I would type these long extravagant texts, decent in length of course, and all I got back was like a word or two. Crazy thing was, just like in your experience, he would initiate conversations with me, but would never have anything to say. It's annoying. But, once I was upfront about it and told him that it was bothering me, he somewhat started to put a little bit more effort. Just tell him. If he continues just don't text him at all.

Yea I should tell him. lol that happened to me to writing long texts and he would say "ok" or one word. I wonder why does he keep texting me if he so darn boring. I would joke with him when I ask what has he done today and he would say nothing then I say " you didn't breathe today?" he would say ok

Start saying completely random things, asking random questions. It'll throw him off, make him laugh and may steer the conversation in am interesting but off the wall direction.

Maybe he's not a texter? If your phone and face to face conversations are better then don't text.

Sadly its about the same.. but when I first met him on xbox he was out going and funny and a funny gamertag now he texts as if he on his death bed.
