Opinions on colored contacts?

I have brown eyes and I was considering getting colored contacts just to change it up a bit. I was thinking blue or green. I was wondering if anyone who wears/or has worn them thinks about them. And what do people think of them in general.

I wouldn't do this because I am insecure or I have low self-esteem...I just think it's a different way to change up my look.

I have coloured contacts and people always say that my eye colour is wicked cool(I own Caribbean Blue coloured contacts). I have blue eyes in the first place but a little change in life is fun. I don't correlate coloured contacts with insecurity at all it's all just for fun. (:

Though, if you don't have a prescription in the first place I personally wouldn't recommend it.

I do have a prescription and just wanted to change it up! Do they bother you at all or have you found any downfalls in them?

Nah, You can get infections but you'd have to be EXTREMELY careless. Like, not washing your hands when you put them in, and sleeping with contacts in could damage your eyes. Coloured contacts are only a little different from clear because they are a bit bigger. My friend with brown eyes orders online because the contacts on stock at the local glasses store only has the fresh look brand. Fresh Look looks extremely fake close up. Look at reviews of different brands on YouTube. (:

I personally do not like them...clear ones are fine for vision..colored ones should be for artistic stuff...but for a change of eye color...i don't like that...i wear glasses to see and I won't get contacts because I am scared my eye can get infected...

they are cool...for the colors...but...nahh...not for me. Maybe on halloween though...but I still fear the infections..

Anyways, it's whatever. It looks tacky when it's red or purple(come on, not everyone is Elizabeth Taylor)

It's fine. I don't wear contacts but I'm not opposed to them

Well, it's because you're taking something as unique as your eyes, and you're changing them unnecessarily. I never said the QA was insecure. I just said people might think she is because she's changing something that's unique to her and making it something else just so that she "looks better" - although they probably wouldn't even make her look better.

2) Brown is good. And see, if you changed your eye colour because "everybody says brown is boring", that's pretty insecure to me. Who cares what everyone says? Your eyes are fine the way they are. I have yet to find an unattractive pair of eyes.

If guys think changing eye color must be out of insecurity then why doesn't that apply for everything else girls change about themselves? Like hair color, skin color, clothes styles, ect. People shouldn't be labeled as insecure for changing it up. Some people just like to try something new.

I wouldn't recommend it. It could make you seem like you're not comfortable with who you are. I wouldn't change my eye-colour (even temporarily) because I like my eyes the way they are.

The thing is, all eyes are awesome lol. Yeah, it's really cool if someone has green eyes - naturally. But if it's just green-coloured contacts, then it loses its awesomeness completely, and at least for me I would think that the person has some sort of issue with her own original eyes.

To me (at least) it's like changing your hairstyle or updating your wardrobe. You wouldn't think someone is insecure if they changed their hairstyle so what's wrong with temporarily changing your eye color? On the other hand, I get what your saying and I will have to think about wheter I should do this or not

Because changing your hairstyle is completely different. Your hair isn't really unique. And with your hair it's okay to try to express yourself, but your eyes are who you are, your eyes are made like that, they never change... and there's no need for them to change, either. They're perfect the way they are. And if they're perfect the way they are, one of the only reasons you could want to change them would be if you were insecure about them for whatever reason or you wanted to be someone else.

But your hair is unique, and is a way to express yourself just like changing eye color... it wouldn't be permenant nor would I want it to be, but it would be a fun unique way to change up my style. I guess we will have to agree to disagree about the subject because I am not insecure about my looks nor do I hate my eye color I just am looking for a fun way to change things up

It's not really as unique. You can have almost the exact same hairstyle as many other people, but it's not the same with eyes.

I'd think it's kinda silly, eye color isn't something that I'd consider important enough to change. But whatever floats your boat, do whatever you'd think would look best.

I actually think its pretty cool, I wanted to try them but my eye doctor said because I have astigmatism I can't /: I would recommend trying green. Blue can sometimes look unnatural with brown eyes.

If they're really unnatural they kinda creep me out. I saw one lady with bright light green ones. It looked weird.
