How do you handle a girl who accused you of stalking and then tries to get your attention?

Shortly after I told this girl, a neighbor that I had expressed too much interest in her, she accused of me stalking. She said I spent my time outside my doorstep as an excuse to spy on her. I cut her off. I blocked her on social media, deleted her phone, and avoid looking in her direction. I think she continues to tell people I stalked her, but since I don’t talk to her anymore, she greets me with a smile whenever I bump into her. She seems to want to talk. I don’t get why she’s telling people I stalked her, but tries to get my attention whenever I failed to avoid her. I fear that if I confront her, she might use it as an excuse to validate herself in front of people, but I’m also frustrated because if I let her continue she’ll continue to drag my name through the mud.

I’m only hearing one side of the story. Yours. But assuming you’re in the right, then say nothing. Do nothing. Don’t talk about her with friends or anyone. Avoid her completely.

No. That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying it’s impossible for anyone hearing about it in third person, who doesn’t know either one of you, or the situation, to decide on who’s innocent and who’s guilty. However, I was open minded and providing advice in case you are innocent.

All I did was tell her I had express too much, that I just wanted to keep things friendly between us, and that I didn’t want there to be any tension between us because I had express interest in her. I told her because one day I saw alone in the dark with another guy. We had a normal conversation, agreed to keep things friendly, but then she and her sister accused me of stalking her. It was so random.

Avoid her as much as possible but like someone said here, I only know your side of the story not hers. But anyways when you see her again and when she greets you, keep the interacting extremely brief either a head nod or a hi and bye, kinda deal.

In a sense, yes. She’s spreading gossip, affecting how people interact with me. I ignore them and the issue hoping people will move on from it. It doesn’t make sense why she’s looking for my attention when she’s spreading so much gossip.

How do I need a reality check? Do you think getting accused of stalking for telling a girl you’re not interested is a thing to take lightly? Stalking charges can get a guy in a lot of trouble. You need to reevaluate your line of thought.
