What does it mean when a girl cries in front of you?

Not because I caused it, she was talking to me and she got very emotional and she is usually a very strong willed girl and she never has shown me a weak side and she is usually a very happy and friendly person. When I saw those tears, I got heartbroken and I tried to give her a little side hug but she didn't want it (again, she was being strong).

What is this? is this a sign of comfort or that she can be herself around me and let emotions out?

I think that maybe her emotions got the best out of her. If she is a strong willed girl then she will probably be embarrassed that she let herself show emotions like that in front of another person because it shows vulnerability. Sometimes pain in a person just comes out at the moment and you can't stop it. Maybe she thought that you wouldn't judge her and felt safe with you but at the same time wasn't sure how to show it in front of you. If she is strong willed like you said then do not make fun of her for crying or anything. Don't even jokingly play around about it. She will probably not speak to you the same ever again. I"m the same way and I never cry in front of people but it has happened. And when someone decided to lightly poke fun at that then I completely lost respect for them and put my guard up even more.

If she's really strong as you mentioned, and she doesn't like to cry in front of people, but she did in front of you then that means she trusts you or she's comfortable with you to show this side of her. I guess she's really hurt that she couldn't contain herself and did what she usually doesn't do (crying in front of people).

So because she trusts you and she's comfortable with you, she's expecting you to not tell people or make fun of her and you will understand her. You shouldn't talk about this with people and try to comfort her (although I guess from what you have mentioned she doesn't accept comforting too or she's just not used to it), and listen to her because I think she needs someone who listens to her and makes her feel everything is fine.

she was probably just going through a lot. even the strongest person can break down at times right? it may mean she was just having a bad day and you were there. period. or that she doesn't think you'd judge her or bring it back up later if she did cry. The few times my boyfriend has cried in front of me or on the phone I've never brought it back up. He NEVER cries and always presents himself as a strong almost stone like. Don't bring it up, just let her move fwd with her life, if she wants to talk to you about it she will do so on her own.

i think it is a sign of trust if she is strong like you describe her she probably would only show emotion like that with someone she trusts
